Mark Wahlberg Plans To Turn Nevada Into ‘Hollywood 2.0’ After Moving His Kids Out of LA

If Mark Wahlberg has his way, Nevada will soon become a hub for filmmakers. The 51-year-old hopes to work with the state government to create massive tax breaks for movie studios, luring them away from Hollywood. Mark recently moved to the area and seems like he's ready to set up a base in his new hometown.

Mark teamed up with local lawmakers.

He's proposing that the state bump the already generous annual $10 million credit up to $190 million over the next two decades.

"I would love to see us building studios, creating jobs and just diversifying the economy," he told CNBC. "I've moved my last film here. I'm shooting another film here coming up in the summertime."

Mark's obviously enjoying working so close to home, something he was rarely able to do while living in California.

He hopes to create more jobs for locals with the move.

"I think there's so much more opportunity to be created here," he continued. "There's so much growth and so much potential, it's a wonderful opportunity for everybody to prosper."

It appears Mark may already be investing in his new home base. The Daily Mail reported that he's already made at least two real estate purchases, including a block of land as well as a $14.5 million bungalow.

The city of Las Vegas seems especially primed to profit.

Mark's plan includes bumping up the salaries of those he brings on to work on his studio projects. "The average salary would be $100,000 more than what it is now," he said in a separate interview with Fox Business.

"We want to train people both in front of and behind the camera, create jobs, most importantly, first and foremost, for locals."

Mark only recently became a local himself, so it's great to see him excited to give back to the community already.

The father of four left California for his children.

Mark and wife Rhea Durham moved away from their home in search of a better life for their children β€” 13-year-old Grace, 14-year-old Brendan, 17-year-old Michael, and 19-year-old Ella β€” according to the actor, who felt like he could achieve a better work-life balance outside of Hollywood.

We hope the move has been good for him and his kids.

Considering he's ready to invest so massively into the state β€” in addition to working with politicians to get tax breaks passed for his movie studio, he's also looking to open a "shoe factory" and clothing line β€” we're going to assume the move has worked out for the Wahlberg family.

We're happy to hear it!
