The Best New Content Coming to Netflix in April 2022

Spring is here! 'Any Given Sunday'

Netflix's brand-new animated film, Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood, premieres this month. 'Blow'

Arguably one of Johnny Depp's best movies, 2001's Blow — which also stars Penélope Cruz — is based on the true story of George Jung, a drug dealer who joined up with the infamous Pablo Escobar and the Medellín cartel to build the American cocaine market during the 1970s. It's a riveting watch.

'CoComelon' (Season 5)

If you have a JJ-loving kiddo and you're tired of hearing the same old nursery rhymes again and again, you'll be happy to know that the latest season of CoComelon will be available on Netflix in April. There's nothing like a good J.Lo rom-com, and Monster-in-Law, which also stars Jane Fonda and Michael Vartan, is one of her best. The 2005 film is hilarious and totally relatable. It's about a woman who finally meets the guy of her dreams, only to have his mother be intent on doing everything she can to sabotage their relationship.

'Saving Private Ryan'

Another Oscar-winning movie, 1998's Saving Private Ryan stars A-listers Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Edward Burns, and Giovanni Ribisi, among others. It takes place during World War II and tells the story of a group of soldiers tasked with retrieving a single private from behind enemy lines after three of his brothers are killed in action.

'The Blind Side'

Coming to Netflix: April 1

The popular film The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock, is based on the true story of a once-homeless boy who became a professional football player after he was taken in by a couple who helped him get on track with his education and pursue his interest in sports. Warning: It's a tearjerker!

'The Bubble'

Coming to Netflix: April 1

The Bubble is a new Netflix original comedy directed by Judd Apatow and starring Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Iris Apatow, Leslie Mann, Keegan-Michael Key, and David Duchovny. It's about a group of actors living in a hotel together while they try to film a movie during a pandemic. Art imitating life.

'Better Call Saul' (Season 5)

Coming to Netflix: April 4

The fifth and final season of the hugely popular Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, starring Bob Odenkirk and Giancarlo Esposito, is finally hitting Netflix, two years after series wrapped on AMC. The series struggled with lockdown delays, but in early April, fans will finally get the conclusion they've been waiting for.

'Queen of the South' (Season 5)

The last season of USA's Queen of the South will also land on Netflix in April. It's an excellent show about a Mexican woman who takes off to Texas after her drug-runner boyfriend is killed, and promptly sets about establishing her own drug smuggling ring from her new home base in Dallas.

Coming to Netflix: April 8

A popular drama out of Spain, Elite is currently in its fifth season, and will be returning for a sixth, so it's the perfect binge-watching option if you haven't checked it out yet. It's about three teens from working class families who end up going to an elite private school, where they have to navigate the differences between them and their wealthy and privileged peers.

'Green Eggs and Ham' (Season 2)

Another one for the kids, Netflix is bringing young viewers a second season of the animated series Green Eggs and Ham, which of course is based on the iconic Dr. Seuss book. The show is sure to have your little ones — and probably you too — rolling on the floor laughing.

Fans of recent hits such as Inventing Anna and Pieces of Her should definitely check out the new British limited series Anatomy of a Scandal. Starring Sienna Miller and Naomi Scott, it's about a sexual consent scandal and the various women involved.

'Russian Doll' (Season 2)

Fans have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the second season of this series, starring Natasha Lyonne. It's about a New York City woman who wakes up stuck in a time loop the same day as a birthday party that's being thrown for her. It's dramatic, suspenseful, and actually pretty funny.

'Silverton Siege'

Silverton Siege is a new Netflix original film from South African filmmaker Mandla Dube. The movie's release coincides with South Africa's Freedom Day, and fittingly, it's about three anti-apartheid freedom fighters who hold the patrons and staff of a bank hostage, with their only condition being the release of Nelson Mandela from prison.

'Grace and Frankie' (Season 7)
