Prince Harry is no longer a working member of the royal family, but that’s not stopping him from continuing his work with the organizations he’s most passionate about. After making the trip to London to appear in court earlier this week, the Duke of Sussex surprised war victims in Lviv, Ukraine, when he visited a military clinic with a group from his Invictus Games organization.
As People reported, Harry visited the Superhumans Center, which offers free medical and psychological support to its patients, on Thursday. He was invited by the clinic’s CEO, Olga Rudneva, and according to what a spokesperson for Harry told the outlet, he was there to tour the facility to see what it was like in a country while it was actively in war.
“Thousands of Ukrainians have suffered life-changing injuries, wounded on the battlefield and on the street,” says the Superhumans website. “We have launched a modern rehabilitation center for adults and children in Ukraine to give these people a superhero life they deserve.”
During his tour, he met with patients, doctors, and surgeons, as well as those who participate in the Invictus Games in Ukraine.
The Invictus Games’ official Instagram account shared photos from Harry’s visit, along with more details.
“Joined by a delegation from the Invictus Games Foundation, including four veterans with lived experience of injury and recovery, the visit highlighted the life-changing support being delivered — not just during the Invictus Games, but through our global year-round sport recovery programmes,” said the Instagram post.
A video shared by the Superhumans Center showed footage of Harry arriving at the clinic, in awe of the facility.
“This is my first visit to Ukraine, and it certainly won’t be the last,” Harry said in the video. “It was an absolute honor and a privilege to be able to travel here with the Invictus delegation … and to see what absolutely mind-blowing care and rehabilitation that is provided here under this purpose-built roof.”
