Prince George and Princess Charlotte got to spend their school break visiting the set of a very popular TV series, all thanks to their royal parents. Kate Middleton and Prince William took their two oldest children to the filming of The Lord of the Rings spinoff, The Rings of Power, using their royal connections to achieve the status of coolest parents ever.
It seems like a really fun day for the family.
The royals took a trip to the set of The Lord of the Rings spin-off on Friday, according to The Sun. All three kids had some time off from their studies at the Lambrook school, and it looks like the Prince and Princess of Wales thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate the downtime.
It was a 'low key' visit.
The foursome kept things quiet as they toured the set and met with various members of the cast during the kids' half-term break.
This sounds like a once in a lifetime experience for George and Charlotte — especially since they got some quality time with their busy parents without their little brother, Prince Louis, who hung back at home.
It was actually a super convenient day trip.
They didn't even need to wait for a chunk of time off to make the trek, considering filming is taking place in a forest located in Buttersteep Rise, Ascot, Berkshire. The location is just a 20-minute drive from their new Windsor digs.
With production happening that close to their home, it would've been a shame to not swing by.
William may have had ulterior motives for the trip.
We know that William and Kate are doting parents, but it sounds like the father of three was the driving force behind the trip.
"William is a huge fan of the films so jumped at the chance. They were introduced to the major cast members and were shown around the set," a source explained. "It was all hugely exciting for George and Charlotte who loved looking at the props and how everything was laid out."
Reportedly, the cast got a kick out of the visit as well.
We're willing to bet that the reason Louis was kept at home has less to do with his shenanigans during last year's Trooping the Colour and more to do with the fact that the show is likely of little interest to him as a 4-year-old.
They likely found some other way to celebrate the break from school with him, letting the big kids do something a bit different for a change.
