After Queen Elizabeth‘s death in 2022, many people have been worried if the monarchy is going to survive in the generations to come – especially because many people have mixed feelings about King Charles, whose reign is going to be a lot shorter than his mother’s was. But according to what one royal expert has said, Prince William may just have what it takes to save the institution as we know it.

Prince William is now the new 'rock' of the family.
According to what royal expert Tessa Dunlop wrote for The Independent, William has really proven himself this year as he supported both wife Kate Middleton and dad King Charles through their individual cancer battles, showing he truly is fit not just to lead but to ensure the monarchy continues in the coming years. It’s unthinkable for two people William is so close with to have cancer at the same time, but so far, he has come out on the other side as he’s held his family together.
It's this quality that has shown William is more like his late grandmother than some may have thought.
“Naysayers who doubted William’s mettle have been forced to rethink,” Tessa shared. “The Prince of Wales is royalty’s new rock, a reincarnation of his late grandmother, the steadfast anchor who changed it up with designer stubble when his wife was out of action, a woman’s man who unambiguously declared 2024 more than brutal, in fact the toughest year of his life.”
William is proving to be a 'rebirth of the Waleses.'
Tessa went on to explain how William has shown himself to be a strong leader recently – even during his meeting with Donald Trump last month.
“We had forgotten how tall he is, and how comfortable he is in his own skin. So comfy even Trump couldn’t bring himself to manhandle the future king on his pop-over to Paris. (Macron who? The French president was the small one),” she wrote. “Without doubt, the rebirth of the Waleses as the country’s number one couple has moved our monarchy into a new space. These days they appear to be a double act, even when apart.”
Tessa believes one of the biggest impacts Charles can leave on the monarchy is his support for William.
Tessa insists that if William’s goal truly is “compassionate leadership,” Charles needs to “lean in.”
“He may never be the star turn his late mother was, or that his son is fast becoming, but Charles could make a name for himself as a monarch who oversees much-needed root-and-branch reform,” she added.

It's hard to say what the future holds for the monarchy.
But so far, it looks like with William at the helm, it’s in good hands – especially if he continues to impress the world the way he has been in recent months. Before we know it, it’ll be his turn on the throne, but hopefully he has plenty of more time to spend with his dad first.
