The 'Iron Man' star was in a retrospective mood as he rung in his 58th year.

Robert shared a video montage with fans that started with him sitting down at a table waiting for a candle-laden birthday cake to be placed in front of him.

"57 you’ve been too kind with deep gratitude I shall rewind," he captioned the post, which seemed to cover some of the highlights from the last year of Robert's life.

He gave some of his 55.2 million followers a chance to see what he's been working on.

The video included a few shots of the Less Than Zero star in character for his upcoming roles in Oppenheimer and the HBO series The Sympathizer, both of which appear to age the birthday boy far beyond his 58 years.

It looks like RDJ had to do a lot of work to get into character for these roles, and he even let his sons get involved as he prepped.

His youngest boys helped give him a fancy new hairdo.

Robert's youngest sons, 11-year-old Exton and 8-year-old Avri, helped their dad get ready for his HBO series by shaving his head. Or as Robert so eloquently posted in the video, shaving his "dome."

The actor apparently needs a blank canvas for all the wigs and prosthetics he'll be wearing as he plays multiple characters in the new series.

There was also a touching clip from the documentary RDJ worked on about his dad.

Robert worked hard on a documentary about his late father, famous indie film maker Robert Downey Sr., that finally saw the light of day in 2022. The Marvel star posted a black and white clip from the movie, which showed Robert helping his aging father move around.

Sr. died in 2021, so we're sure it was bittersweet to have the film come to fruition last year.

Fans learned that Robert and wife Susan celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary last year. He shared a candid moment featuring the pair on the couch together, with Robert resting his head in his wife's lap.

With how wonderful Robert's 57th year looked, it appears 58 will have a hard time topping it. With a journey as long and winding as Robert's, it's great to see so many good things happening for the star.
