Whitney Cummings Shares Topless Photo & Gets Brutally Honest About Postpartum Experience

The postpartum experience is different for everyone, but it seems brand-new celebrity mom Whitney Cummings knows that it's something we don't talk about nearly enough. After welcoming her first child — a baby boy — the comedian shared a topless photo on Instagram, really driving the point home that healing from birth is no joke, no matter how you bring your baby into the world.

Whitney shared a photo that looks like it was taken in her hospital room.

In the photo, Whitney's wearing nothing but a pair of socks and FridaMom postpartum shorts, which some new moms choose to wear in lieu of the hospital-provided mesh underwear.

"Something nobody told me about giving birth is that you stay looking prego for a bit, then your body changes every 5 minutes after that," she wrote.

Her Instagram comments were filled with messages from moms who have been there.

One mom joked that she probably had to wipe off her wet hands, which were covering her likely lactating breasts, after taking this photo, while others shared stories of their own postpartum experiences.

"I swear my belly felt like a floppy jelly fish," one mom wrote, while another added that she could "feel your insides moving back to where they were."

She announced her baby's birth in a similarly funny fashion.

On December 17, Whitney shared a selfie that showed a tiny baby's hand grasping onto her chest.

"3-D printed a human. Enjoy me never having brushed hair again," she wrote.

Yep, that tracks!

Although the Whitney star hasn't shared her baby boy's name or any details about her little one so far, she hasn't shied away from laughing about her birth — including what she was listening to when she brought her baby into the world.

When she floated the idea of sharing her labor playlist with her Instagram followers, she joked, "please do not pitch TORN by Natalie Imbruglia thanks."

Recovering from birth can be brutal.

And doing all that recovering while also figuring out how to be a mom to a newborn and getting zero sleep in the process? It seems next to impossible, but somehow, moms make it happen.

Whitney's message is an important one — our bodies change so much during pregnancy that of course they won't look (or feel) the same after birth. But little by little, you'll start feeling more and more like yourself, and in the meantime, this is just another part of the experience we should all be talking about more.
