5 Free Games for the Best Bridal Shower on a Budget

Planning a bridal shower is very rewarding. But it can also be a lot of work. What food to serve? What drinks to buy? What decorations and colors to work in? Will there be a theme? Who to invite? What should the favors be? There are so many things to sort out. Not the least of which are the games that will be played.

We might chuckle at the idea, but folks come to a shower expecting to play games! It's a tradition! But that doesn't mean they should blow up your budget or be terribly complicated. In fact, with shower games, the simpler, the better. The main reason they still exist (other than the aforementioned tradition) is to act as an icebreaker. We've rounded up a few of our favorite free shower games.

1. What's In Your Purse?

This one is an oldie but a total goodie. Using the printable link above, every guest tallies up the contents of her purse. She gets one point for having each item listed. The person with the most points is the winner!

2.) He Said She Said

I love this one! It's a real conversation starter. Create a list of questions and ask the guests who said what — was it the bride who cried the first time she said 'I love you' or was it the groom himself!

3.) Wedding Gown Contest

This one is the greatest, a good time will be had by all. I can guarantee this because I just used this game at my sister's shower to great success! Pair up shower guests and give them each one roll of toilet paper. Give them seven minutes to create a wedding dress from the paper, using only the toilet roll. You might be surprised at just how pretty some of the dresses turn out.

4.) Draw the Bride

Another one sure to have everyone in stitches. Give each guest a piece of paper and a pencil. Tell them they are to draw a portrait of the bride. But here's the catch: They can't lift their pencil from the page, and they can't look down at their paper. When they are done, the bride will have a surreal collection of some lovely modern art. Prizes for the artist whose work she likes the most.

5.) Who Knows the Bride the Best?

Similar to the Newlywed Game, but this one puts the guests to the test! The list features a series of questions about the bride-to-be. Figuring out the answers as a group is almost as fun as seeing who the winner is.
