Few things unite us quite like our collective love of mac 'n' cheese. We fell in love with it when we were kids, thanks to its ooey gooey goodness, and when we were college, it was there for us when we were poor and craving some late-night munchies. Now that we're having kids, it's once again our main go-to, because it's pretty much the ONLY things kids will eat without complaining. (Aside from pizza, of course.) That's probably why people everywhere are literally cheering over the news that Chick-fil-A just added mac 'n' cheese to its menu — permanently.
The announcement came on Monday, when the fast food giant revealed the cheesy favorite would now be a side option.
Starting this week, customers can add the comfort food on to any lunch, dinner, kidās meal or catering order at Chick-fil-As nationwide.
… and let's just say, Twitter is DELIGHTED about it.
"If this Chick-fil-A mac n cheese is real," one person tweeted. "Iām bout to be fat AF."
"Chick FIL A GOT MAC N CHEESE?" wrote another. "MY BANK ACCOUNT BOUTTA CRY EVEN MORE."
It's been three years since the menu saw a new addition, and it's definitely making up for lost time.
The food chain's website describes it as "a classic macaroni and cheese recipe, featuring a special blend of cheeses including cheddar, parmesan and Romano."
If that doesn't entice you, how 'bout this? It's baked in the restaurant each day, for a fresh, delicious, undeniably CHEESY taste.
(Oh man. This is information I probably shouldn't have.)
It's safe to say the folks at Chick-fil-A are pretty excited about it, too.
āMac & Cheese is the quintessential comfort food, and something we are so excited to offer our guests at Chick-fil-A," said Amanda Norris, executive director of menu and packaging. "We think it's the perfect pairing with our Original Chicken Sandwich, nuggets and our grilled chicken offerings, but it's also great on its own as a snack. Mac & Cheese is also available on our catering menu as a quick pick-up for a larger gathering. It has a delicious, homemade taste!ā
And just in case you were wondering, they take this mac 'n' cheese business seriously -- it was tested in five markets and "passed with flying colors."
āWe have a very high bar when it comes to adding a menu item,ā Norris shared on the company website, ābut the feedback from our customers in the test markets made this decision easy. I am excited it will be available for all of our guests across the country starting today.ā
One more exciting bit of food news?Ā Participating Chick-fil-As across the country will also begin offering frosted caramel coffee, which is described as "a new seasonal, sweet treat." (Better hurry, though — that yummy menu item will only be around until November 9 or while supplies last.)
