I personally think ugly is a state of mind. If you really believe you are ugly, then that's going to show on the outside. Self-esteem is a big part of being beautiful.
I've had people tell me that I looked angry when I wasn't and looking angry sure isn't looking pretty. I realized it's because my mouth goes into a frown when relaxed, so I try to smile more so I don't seem mean.
But the ugly truth is that a lot is based on our looks.

Over on Shine, there is a big discussion about what is considered ugly in today's beauty-obsessed society. Most people agree that ugliness is defined by a bad attitude or by actions people take.
I'll admit it…I think my husband's smoking habit is ugly. I also don't like when he clips his toe nails in front of me. I don't know why, but it grosses me out.
But let's dig deeper. Why is it that so many of us think we are ugly?
For me, I feel really ugly when I have pimples or after I ate a huge meal (even if the meal was excellent). I also feel really ugly after evey haircut even though I often love it the next day.
