We all know that fashion can be wacky — remember finger condoms? — but sometimes that wackiness leads to incredible things.
Case in point: These boot-leggings, aka "bants," which are EXACTLY what they sound like.
They're leather pants… which are also boots.
All. In. One.
The "Sweet Revenge" legging-boots were designed by shoe god Tamara Mellon, who wanted to create the ULTIMATE in streamlined boots.
Fashion nerds may know Tamara Mellon as the co-founder of Jimmy Choo — she has her own shoe brand now, and it's INCREDIBLE.
I KNOW, SHOE-LEGGINGS SEEM INSANE. At first I was like...
But then I was like...
Here's why.
First: They destroy the argument that "leggings aren't pants."
They ARE pants, and now they are also shoes. DEBATE CANCELLED.
Second: Fuck pants.
Don't you hate pants? Of course you do, and so do I. Now you don't have to wear them ever again — these are basically just boots that cover your ass.
Truly, this is the future liberals want.
Third: They're practical as hell.
One thing to put on in the morning instead of three? Genius. Plus, it eliminates the I-have-to-get-undressed-to-pee issue that arises with catsuits.
These boot-leggings are basically what Catwoman wears on the weekend. Casual Selina Kyle.
Not really into black leather? "Sweet Revenge" also comes in black suede...
And brown suede.
Choose your own bant-venture.
But as stoked as I am about these crazy-ass bants, I do still have some questions:
1. The size guide on the Tamara Mellon site only lists shoe sizes — how do I know what pant size I wear in these legging-boots? Am I an 8.5 / XS-S, or an 8.5 / M-L? Karlie Kloss wears these boots all the time, and she's over six feet tall, so I assume they're on the long side.
But if they're *too* long, do you have to get your shoes… tailored?
2. HOW DOES ONE STORE THESE. Do you hang them up like pants, or stand them up like boots? Will I need to buy the lower half of a mannequin to make sure my boot-leggings keep their shape?
3. What do I wear underneath? Thongs forever, I guess?
4. How much baby powder will I go through getting these on, do you think? Rough estimate.
But if you want these magical, life-changing bants, you'll have to save your pennies — because they're not cheap.
The nappa leather legging-boots are $1,495 (Tamara Mellon), and so are the suede ($1,495, Tamara Mellon).
Hey, sometimes it costs money to look this cool.
If you need me, I'll be over here staring at these shoe-leggings like...
If loving totally bonkers boot-pants is wrong, I don't want to be right.
