The body-positive movement has made major gains for plus-size women in the past few years. Body-positive bloggers, activists, models, and brands have created swimwear lines, pushed for protective legislation, and even persuaded major magazines to ditch Photoshop.
You know what else the body-positive movement has done though? It has encouraged larger women to bare it all, starting with inclusive lingerie. But we say that's a step TOO far. Plus-size women should nix the lingerie and start covering up.
*Seriously*, lingerie isn't made for bigger bodies, and here are nine reasons why:
Stretch marks will ruin the entire look.
You won't look sexy.
No seriously, sexiness is out of the question.
It won't fit over all of your curves.
Lingerie is wayyyyy too risqué. There's nothing classy about it.
Plus-size women don't even have sex, so why would they need lingerie?
Plus-size women can never pose for boudoir shoots. What's the point?
Plus, it's not like any lingerie stores cater to plus-size women.
…except for Torrid, Ashley Stewart, Cacique, Curvy Kate, Hips & Curves…
And when they do, it's in boring colors and designs.
All jokes aside, fat women can — and should — wear whatever the hell they choose.
Sexiness has no size limit.
