Kylie Jenner finally showed us what her new Velvet Matte lip kits really look like

Kylie Jenner is as well-known for her matte lips as she is her ever-changing hair color and style. So when she announced last week that she was releasing brand new "Velvet" liquid lip kits, the entire world freaked out — and then said "Hey wait, what the heck does "demi-matte" mean?"

At first blush, the new Velvet Lip Kits look really similar to her existing mattes — but there *is* a difference.

Demi-matte seems to mean "satin" — so they come in a liquid finish but don't dry down all the way. They also come in a box with a velvet ribbon. So there's that, too.

The Velvet Lip Kits (launching March 16) come in four shades — but a lot of people were wondering if they were REALLY any different to Kylie's klassic matte lipsticks.

While the swatches of Charm, Harmony, Dazzle, and Rosie looked great — so rich and creamy! — a lot of people kind of weren't seeing the difference between these "demi-mattes" and the regular mattes.

So Kylie stepped in to show us the demi-matte light. She posted a tutorial using two of the shades from the new line — and it's actually really cool.

You can see by these swatches that these colors are going to be as rich and pigmented as a matte, but nowhere near as flat. Love a bit of shine.

King Kylie starts by applying Harmony, a dusty pink shade, all over her lips.

Kylie then added Charm, the lightest pink shade, in the middle of her lips to create dimension — and this is where the new formula really shines.

Matte liquid lipsticks, for all their good qualities, aren't often super blendable — once they've dried, they're set. These demi-matte Velvet Lip Kits retain a little more slip, meaning that you have more time to blend the colors into one another.

The end result? Beautiful pink lips, perfectly blended for added fullness and ~radiance~

I'm finally on board with this formula.

And yes, the new formula even looks good with the puppy filter.

Of course.
