A Woman Sued Macy’s For Leaving A Permanent ‘X’ On Her Face At The Makeup Counter

Going to the beauty counter is supposed to be a fun experience. You go there looking for a cute makeover for the day or to simply try out a new foundation you've been eyeing. You get an employee to help you determine which new products are coming home with you in a beauty bag. Then, you leave out feeling one thousand times better because GAH, that's the point of the beauty counter. New makeup, who dis.

Unfortunately, a woman who visited the makeup counter at a Macy's in Houston, Texas is claiming that her experience didn't live up to those expectations at all. She's filed a lawsuit against the retailer with claims that an employee left a mark on her face that she hasn't been able to remove.

Um, this is the stuff of nightmares.

Judy Pleunik filed a lawsuit against Macy's over a permanent "X" that's left on her face, allegedly after she got her makeup done at the department store beauty counter.

She got her makeup done at Macy's in February 2018 and over a year later, she's still unable to remove the strange "X" mark.

"I want to figure out how to get this off my face," Pleunik told ABC13 Eyewitness News. "It's extremely frustrating because every day when I see people, they're like 'Why do you have an 'X' on your face?' I put makeup on, but it bleeds right through it. It's bizarre to me." Ouch!

Pleunik also shared that she visited a dermatologist to determine what's going on with her face.

"My dermatologist tried to get it off and he could not get it off. He said, 'If she used a magic marker, makeup, or an ink pen [then] he could get it off. But it went right into my skin pigment almost like a tattoo. It's been over a year and a half and it's still there," she explained.

Pleunik and her lawyer want Macy's to be held accountable for this bizarre facial mark.

"I'm hoping for Macy's to be accountable for what happened to Judy," Pleunik's lawyer, Melissa Ephron, shared. "This is a horrible situation. She's terribly embarrassed by it." It's also pretty scary to think about the fact that not even her dermatologist could figure out exactly what's on her face.

Macy's provided the following statement to ABC13 Eyewitness News about the lawsuit.

The retailer's statement admits no fault which is an expected practice for legal purposes. Instead, the brand focused on its mission to satisfy Macy's customers.

"We are committed to ensuring that all our customers and colleagues are treated with respect and dignity. As a company, we are unable to comment or provide any additional information on ongoing investigations," the retailer wrote.

People are in disbelief about such a bizarre situation.

"This is very odd I was in the cosmetic industry for many many years in the Atlanta GA market Federated department stores Rich’s," one person wrote. "Worked in management for Easter alauder Cliniqye [sic] Lancôme Chanel ect.. trained beauty advisors. I don’t believe a person could get a permanent 'X.' Odd."

Some people think it's purely a money grab.

"This sounds like a scam," one person wrote. "Someone making up something for a lawsuit. Don’t believe a word. Plus, you can get off permanent marker so I don’t buy her story and if I was Macy’s I would sue her."

Yikes.

This entire lawsuit situation is every beauty fan's nightmare.

The beauty counter is supposed to be the place for transformation, fun, and even self-care. Forget leaving with a bad makeup job! Going there and leaving with a mark on your face that not even a doctor can remove is unfathomable. Whether this lawsuit moves forward or not, let's hope the woman gets to the bottom of what's wrong with her face. Sending well wishes to both parties involved.
