It is a truth universally acknowledged that sexism in Hollywood is a major problem. Actresses are underpaid, overly sexualized, or ignored completely, only to be considered "too old" when they turn 40.
And when it comes to the media, it's even more glaring. Actors are asked about their philanthropic efforts, while actresses get questions about how they stay skinny and "hot."
This emphasis on how women look, rather than on their craft, is 100% grade-A baloney. And you know who IS NOT FUCKING HERE for it? Jane Fonda.
During an appearance on "The Today Show," Robert Redford and My Queen Jane sat down with Megyn Kelly to talk about their ambitious new movie, "Our Souls at Night." Kelly wanted to talk about Fonda's plastic surgery… but Fonda was having exactly none of it.
Our story begins here, in the second part of the interview. "You've been an example to everyone in how to age beautifully and with strength and unapologetically," says Kelly. AND JANE FONDA MAKES THIS FACE.
As Kelly continues to talk, Fonda LITERALLY starts clawing her chair. So you just know this is going to go somewhere *good.*
I'm not a TV host, but if you're interviewing someone and they start clutching their seat, maybe you should steer that ship away from the rocks. Just saying, Kelly.
"You admit you've had work done, which I think is to your credit," Kelly says. Fonda's reaction:
This is the face of a woman who is setting a fire with her mind.
Kelly does not catch fire, and presses on.
"I read you're not proud to admit that you've had work done," Megyn lamely continues. "Why not?"
JANE FONDA, NEWLY CROWNED QUEEN OF MY PETTY HEART, RESPONDS BY MAKING THIS FACE:
And then she shuts that shit down by simply saying, "Do we REALLY want to talk about this now?"
Nothing but respect for MY president.

She looks over to Robert Redford, as if to say, "What kind of fuckery is this?"
At press time, Redford was indeed unable to identify that fuckery.
"Well, one of the things people think when they look at you is how amazing you look," Kelly continues, because she has not yet dug her hole deep enough. Fonda:
"Well, THANKS," Fonda replies sarcastically. "Good attitude, good posture, take care of myself. But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, "Our Souls at Night," rather than plastic surgery."
Jane Fonda did not come here to field patronizing questions. She is not here to play. She's here to talk about her craft and roast Robert Redford on live TV. Get on her level, Megyn Kelly.
