Mom Who Cracked Her Infant’s Back Before She Died Says She ‘Did Not Mean To Hurt Her’

The baby girl began having seizures.

Before the mom took the baby to the hospital, the baby started "seizing." The first time it happened, Johnson reportedly thought "her child was cold," per AZFamily. She wrapped the baby in a blanket, told her brother to search for symptoms online, and went back to sleep.

Later that night, the baby started "seizing" again, and Johnson asked her roommate to record what was happening. Her roommate reportedly told her to take the baby to the hospital, per 12 News.

The mom said she did not cause the injuries that led to her daughter's death.

The baby died on March 13. During an initial interview, Johnson told officers that she did not cause the injuries that led to her daughter's death. Later, though, she admitted that her actions could've injured her daughter, but she "did not mean to hurt her," reported AZFamily.

She demonstrated the 'back-cracking adjustment' she performed on the baby.

In a follow-up interview, Johnson said she performed a "back-cracking adjustment" on her daughter the day before she began having seizures. She reportedly performed the "back-cracking adjustment" on her daughter twice, according to 12 News. Using a doll, she showed investigators what she did, and she admitted that she had no "chiropractic training."

Per 12 News, Johnson said that she learned the "back cracking adjustment" from her sister, but her sister denied this.

It was 'probably reckless,' she admitted.

While Johnson claims that she did not intentionally cause harm to her daughter, she admitted to investigators that preforming the "back cracking adjustment" on her daughter was "probably reckless."

She has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of child abuse, according to AZFamily.
