Toddler & Child Among 3 Found Dead in Lake Michigan in Suspected ‘Domestic Dispute’

Three bodies, two children and an unknown woman, were found in Lake Michigan in Chicago. Although details about how their bodies ended up there are still being determined, police believe it could be a domestic dispute. It is unknown how long they had been in the water before the bodies were found, and it may still take some time before their official causes of death are known. Both of the children have been identified.

About 11:20 a.m., officers from the Chicago Police Department responded after the body of an unidentified female infant was recovered from Lake Michigan, they shared in a statement to USA Today. First responders declared her dead.

The bodies of a 31-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy were found several hours later.

Police didn’t specify exactly where the bodies were found, but the baby girl’s body was found in the Jackson Park neighborhood, which is several miles south of downtown. The crime scenes are less than a mile from each other, USA Today reported.

While police have yet to establish a relationship between the three people, they believe they are connected, the statement noted, per the newspaper. It’s likely they are the result of an “apparent domestic dispute.” No additional details were given.

As of September 15, no arrests had been made in connection to the crime, but authorities say the investigation is continuing.

On the same day, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two children’s bodies, NBC 5 Chicago reported. The baby is 1-year-old Jream Jaycee Washington, and the girl is 6-year-old Wyatt Bryden Patton, both from Matteson, a southern suburb. Currently, the manner of death for both children is still listed as pending, according to the news outlet.

The woman’s body has yet to be identified. According to police, they still are waiting for those autopsy results.
