Two brothers who are 6 and 3 years old reportedly took their parents' car for a ride to go buy a toy late Wednesday night. They were found by local authorities where they live on the Malaysian island of Langkawi after they crashed into a lamppost. Fortunately, neither of the brothers sustained any serious injuries, but the oldest brother did end up a minor cut on his chin.
According to Langkawi Police Chief Shariman Ashari, the boys sneaked out of the home while their father was sleeping and their mother was in the bathroom.

The boys were seen joyriding in several posts circulating on social media.
Witnesses apparently saw the brothers driving the vehicle down the road around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, per Yahoo! News. The 6-year-old reportedly steered while his 3-year-old brother managed the gas pedal. Other drivers pursued the vehicle, assuming it was a drunk driver, but they discovered after the crash that it was the two young boys driving the car, the news outlet reported.
A 95-second video circulated on Facebook, showing the boys in the car, according to CNN. There are also photos showing the extent of the damage to the car.
In the video, they are heard saying they want to go to the store to buy a toy car. “Mama is at home and we are going to the store,” the older brother says. “We want to buy a black car,” the younger child adds, according to CNN.
They managed to drive 2.5 kilometers before crashing.
What's more surprising and shocking is that the brothers managed to drive the car and travel a distance of 2.5 kilometers — or 1.5 miles — away from their home before they crashed, per Yahoo! News.
“The driver was a minor aged six, who was driving a passenger – his brother, aged three, the police chief noted in a statement. "The crash occurred when the car, traveling from Ulu Melaka towards Kampung Nyior Chabang, lost control and crashed into a lamppost near Kampung Titi Chanwang,” per CNN.

Authorities classified the incident as reckless driving.
They reported that what happened is being investigated under the 1987 road transport act for reckless driving, per CNN, although the boys have not been identified at this time. There was significant damage to the front end of the car, a Toyota Vios.
Though the boys were thankfully unharmed, this incident is a scary reminder for parents to be mindful of where they put their keys and to maybe reiterate the rules about not leaving the house without an adult.
Social media users were impressed by the brothers' ingenuity.
Although some social media users on Facebook applauded the brothers for figuring out how to drive a car, others blamed the incident on the parents and video games.
“This must be the case of a driving simulator game at home,” one user commented.
“This is a lesson for other parents not to be careless no matter how old the child is, I think in 20 years they will be F1 racers, this is hidden talent,” wrote another person.
“How can his parents not realize that their child is driving. What are his parents doing,” asked someone else.
