A Wisconsin father will be nearly 100 years old when he is released from prison after he pleaded guilty and was convicted of killing his 12-year-old son. Roman J. Moye, 45, was sentenced to 47 1/2 years in the murder of his son Jacarie Robinson. The judge called it the worst case of abuse and neglect she had ever seen. Jacarie weighed only 54 pounds when he was left to die in October 2023.
Robinson beat his son and starved him inside a home in the 4100 block of North Elmhurst Road in Milwaukee. He was apparently isolated from others for an extended period and may have been dead for up to a month before his body was discovered. Sadly, his brother found Jacarie dead under a blanket in his father's living room.

Moye reportedly punished Jacarie severely.
Moye had never been in trouble with the law prior to Jacarie's death, but had been accused of abusing his other children, according to the New York Post. The claims were never substantiated, and the abuse apparently continued for Jacarie.
Fox 6 reported that Moye used food to tant his son and intentionally starved him. When the child was caught "stealing food," he would be punished.
The home was filthy.
Milwaukee Police Detective Michael Driscoll told Fox 6 the house's conditions were deplorable. He said this is the kind of case that sticks with a person and one he will never forget.
"The conditions inside the house were unlivable" Driscoll said. "Human feces, urinating in jugs, the smell, the mold."
Moye reportedly controlled everything in the home and lashed out with horrific abuse. Jacarie "was beaten, he was choked, he was stomped," Driscoll added.
Prior to Jacarie's death, Moye sent his other children away.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Jacarie was homeschooled and often isolated from other children. He had two siblings who were reportedly sent away two weeks before his body was discovered.
An older brother grew suspicious when he didn't see Jacarie and went back into the house and found his brother's body decomposing under a blanket in the living room, according to Fox 6,
"It was very hard for me and my family,” Jay Moye told the news outlet.
Judge Laura Crivello said it was the worst case she'd ever seen.
Crivello, who has served for more than three decades, said in court, "I don't understand this at all — it's unconscionable. In my 30 years, the most vicious and aggravated thing I have ever seen," per the Post. "The offenses [are] stuff of a horror movie," she said of the abuse.
"He was confined to a living room by his own father," Deputy District Attorney Matthew Torbenson recalled in court, the Post reported. "A person who is supposed to love him, care for him, raise for him, keep him safe, provide for him, slowly tortured him and killed him."

Moye will likely spend the rest of his life in jail.
He was sentenced to nearly five decades in prison with an additional 20 years of extended supervision. If he makes it to the end of his sentence, he'll be 112 years old before he is finally free.
"The facts in this case go beyond disturbing," Driscoll said, according to the Post. "They kind of cut deep into your soul at times."
