Dad Wins Sheriff’s Primary in Same County He Shot & Killed 67-Year-Old Man He Caught Alone With His Teen Daughter

October 8, 2024, was a day that changed Aaron Spencer’s life forever. The father allegedly found his 13-year-old daughter in a car with 67-year-old Michael Fosler. He was out on bond on charges of sexually abusing the girl. When the father approached Fosler, he shot and killed him. Deputies from the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office arrested Spencer. He admitted to killing Fosler but never pleaded guilty. Spencer also put his hat in the race for Lonoke County Sheriff. On March 3, 2026, he defeated the Republican incumbent candidate and moved forward. Whether he’ll actually become sheriff or end up in prison remains to be seen.

Spencer defeated 13-year Lonoke County Sheriff Jeff Staley in the March 3 primary. The current sheriff posted a Facebook message thanking Lonoke County residents for their past support.

“Serving as your Sheriff for the past 13 years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I’ve always tied to lead wit integrity – to do what’s right, not what’s easy,” he wrote. “I’m proud of the men and women of this office and proud of the work we’ve done together. Thank you, Lonoke County, for trusting me to serve you.”

Spencer also shared a message on social media with Lonoke County voters, looking forward to the future.

“Lonoke County sent a clear message last night, and we’re just getting started. I’m running to restore accountability and integrity to the Sheriff’s Office, and the people of this county just showed they want the same thing,” he wrote in his post. “Let’s finish the job and build a safer, stronger Lonoke County together. If you’re with us heading into November, I’d be grateful for your support.”

His supporters are proud to back him.

“Just curious how many people are moving here now because let me tell you, WE ALL NEED A SHERIFF LIKE THIS GUY!” one person commented on the post.

Someone else might want to move to Lonoke County. “I am in Oklahoma. Never in a MILLION years did I think I would have a desire to move to any part of Arkansas. Until today,” the person wrote. “So proud of you and I truly believe we need more MEN like you.”

“Every city needs a sheriff like this who takes decisive and permanent action against predators!!” another person agreed.

There’s only one snag in Spencer’s plans: He’s still charged with murder. According to KARK, he’s due in court on March 18 for a pretrial hearing.

Although many people may agree with the father’s actions, it’s still against the law to kill someone. The proverbial “Two wrongs don’t make a right” couldn’t be more fitting. We’re very interested to see where this case goes.
