Police in Florida have arrested a mother of three after she allegedly made a threat to her health insurance company. Briana Boston, 42, reportedly placed a call to BlueCross BlueShield regarding a denied medical claim. When she seemingly didnât get the response she wanted, Boston apparently threatened the representative, prompting a call to the FBI. That comment ultimately led to her arrest.
According to WFLA, Boston made the call on a recorded line and, near the end, told the representative, âDelay, Deny, Depose. You people are next.â She now sits in jail on a $100,000 bond.

Bostonâs words prompted authorities to investigate.
Detectives from the Lakeland Police Department arrived at Bostonâs home on December 10, 2024, after receiving a call from the FBI, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by WFLA. During an interview, she reportedly admitted to police what she said during that call. She added, âHealthcare companies played games and deserved karma from the world because they are evil.â
Boston reportedly knew exactly what she was saying.
She allegedly used the phrase âdeny, delay, depose,â she said, âbecause itâs what is in the news right now.â
Boston appeared to be referring to the slaying of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, on December 4, in New York City. The alleged gunman, Luigi Mangione, reportedly wrote the words âdelay,â âdeny,â and âdepose,â on the bullets used in the killing, USA Today reported. Mangione faces murder charges.
Police had little sympathy for Boston.
Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor said, âSheâs been in this world long enough that she certainly should know better that you canât make threats like that in the current environment that we live in and think that weâre not going to follow up and put you in jail,â WFLA reported.
âShe readily admitted that, âYeah thatâs exactly what I said but I didnât mean anything by itâ,â Taylor said. âWell, you donât get to pull that back after you say it.â
Bostonâs attorney hoped the judge would have mercy on his client.
Her attorney, Jim Headley, reportedly said to the judge, âMy client is 42, married mother of three. Never had any criminal charges or convictions. May you release her on her own recognizance.â
Instead, the judge denied his request, saying, âI do find that the bond of $100,000 is appropriate considering the status of our country at this point,â per WFLA.
