Chicago-Area Woman Found Dead After Husband Sees Video Footage of Her Ex Chasing Her Into Garage

Experiencing domestic violence is a very real trauma for many individuals. Sadly, for some, it doesn’t stop, even after they’ve removed themselves from the situation. Police in a suburb of Chicago found a woman dead in her home after her husband told authorities that he saw his wife’s ex-husband chase her into their garage on their home surveillance footage. Paramedics declared the woman dead at the scene. Additionally, the male suspect was taken into custody shortly afterward when his car was spotted on a nearby street.

The Oswego Police Department was called on January 27, 2026, after a concerned husband saw home surveillance footage that appeared to show his wife’s ex chasing her into their garage, per People. A press release from Oswego police reported that authorities were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Valentine Way in Oswego around 1:10 p.m. They found an unresponsive female who paramedics declared dead at the scene.

Police stated through their initial investigation that the victim’s ex-husband is their primary suspect, per NBC Chicago, although the man has not been named. A witness shared with authorities about seeing “a man fleeing southbound from the house across Wolfs Crossing Road.”

The police press release noted that the caller reported “he believed his wife was in danger” after seeing a man run after his wife into their garage on their home security footage. The caller told dispatchers he thought the man was his wife’s ex-husband.

The dispatcher gave officers at the home a vehicle description and license plate number believed to be associated with the suspect, per the release. About 1:37 p.m., a police officer saw a car matching that description driving on a nearby road. Authorities did a traffic stop, where the driver was taken into custody.

According to ABC Chicago, the victim’s name, age, and how she died have not been released. Additionally, an autopsy will be performed by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office “to determine the cause and manner of death,” People reported.

This is such a tragic example of domestic violence that resulted in the loss of an innocent woman’s life. Our thoughts are with the victim’s husband and family at this time.
