Lawyer Allan Kassenoff Resigns Amid Backlash Over Viral Abuse Videos

It has been more than two weeks since Catherine Kassenoff reportedly died by assisted suicide after years of alleged abuse from her estranged husband, attorney Allan Kassenoff. Videos of Allan berating his wife and children went viral after @therobbieharvey posted them on TikTok. The platform took his original video down, but not before it amassed 30 million views. Thousands of comments demanded answers from Allan and called for justice for Catherine.

The mother of three posted a final message on her Facebook page, which is now set to private. She made claims of years of verbal and emotional abuse against her husband and shared court documents she believed showed bias from the family court system in New York. After Allan Kassenoff's abhorrent behavior went viral, he was put on a leave of absence as a patent attorney at Greenberg Traurig, pending an internal investigation. Now, new reports say the disgraced attorney has resigned from his job amid the intense public backlash.

Allan Kassenoff's alleged abuse blew up on social media at the end of May.

Catherine Kassenoff's final Facebook message, now viewable only by her friends, announced that she could no longer live without her children.

"It is with a profound heartbreak, that I hope none of you ever experience, that I am writing my last post ever," the post reads. "Today, I will be ending my own life. I will be doing so in a dignified and idyllic setting in Europe. There are simply no other options left."

She was dying of cancer at the time of her reported suicide, but the alleged mental anguish by Allan Kassenoff reportedly drove her to end her own life.

In addition to her final post, she shared a link to a Dropbox file containing court documents she believed proved she was mistreated in the divorce and Allan Kassenoff was using his connections in the legal world to keep her from their children.

"I have also endured the emotional devastation of being without my children for so long, homeless from Allan's repeated ex parte evictions of me from the homes I own and rented, deprivation of my property and obliteration of my life savings, the loss of my two dogs, the loss of my career and reputation, and the concomitant humiliation and ostracism from all this," Catherine Kassenoff wrote.

He may have won in the courtroom, but Allan quickly became public enemy No. 1 in the public eye.

Even though Catherine Kassenoff's Facebook account is now private and @therobbieharvey's videos have reportedly been taken down from TikTok, plenty of people captured Allan Kassenoff's behavior, and his screams are still rapidly circulating online. He may be trying to do damage control now, but it's probably too late. The internet is forever, and no one will forget his face or the horrifying things he said to his wife in the series of viral videos.

It didn't take long for Allan Kassenoff's career to be in jeopardy.

Although some people believed that Greenberg Traurig waited too long to address the situation publicly, the firm did eventually make a statement on Facebook regarding the case on June 2.

"Allan Kassenoff has been involved in a divorce and custody matter that has been going on for more than 4 years. After lengthy trials and reviewing all the facts, including some videos, none of the 4 judges who presided over the trials or the 2 court-appointed neutral forensic evaluators found him to have committed wrongdoing or abuse as to his children or the contended domestic violence, and instead awarded him sole legal and physical custody of their three children," the initial post reads. "Nevertheless, the firm will be conducting its own investigation to determine his status with the firm. In the meantime, he is taking a voluntary leave of absence to focus on his family."

A week later, the firm released another statement announcing Allan's departure. It was not clear if he left on his own or if he was forced out. Either way, Allan is now without a job. Greenberg Traurig has also announced its intention to help the Kassenoff children, who are undoubtedly crushed by the situation.

"The firm is sensitive to the needs of the three children, the primary victims of the situation, and therefore will be creating a dedicated trust fund with an
independent trustee for the sole benefit of these children, to be voluntarily
funded by the lawyers and staff of our firm," a Facebook post reads. "We wish healing and privacy to the children during this very difficult situation."

Harvey has no plans to back down.

In a video released Monday, Harvey explained that even though people are reporting his posts exposing Allan Kassenoff, he has no plans to stop talking about the case and fighting for justice for Catherine Kassenoff and their children.

"There's still many steps to be taken here. There's still a lot of people out there that need to answer for the decisions that they've made because a woman is no longer here with us as a result of those decisions," Harvey said. "Your actions have consequences. And I'm going to make sure those consequences come."

It's been more than two weeks since Catherine Kassenoff's nightmare reportedly ended with her assisted suicide, but Allan Kassenoff's is just beginning. He has been outed, he has lost his job, and many hope he will soon lose his children. No one knows what the future holds for Allan Kassenoff, who is accused of brutally verbally and emotionally abusing his wife.

He has yet to say a word about any of the allegations. Perhaps now he sees himself as the abuser everyone else does, and he is both horrified and ashamed. We can only hope.
