When Kevin Hyun Ahn, 31, showed up at his estranged sisterâs apartment on March 24, 2025, she contacted police. She claimed her transient brother was âacting weirdâ outside of her home in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Ahn allegedly drove their motherâs car, and because he was not generally welcome at the home, his presence concerned his sister. No one expected what they would uncover inside the vehicle.
According to a statement from North Lancaster Regional Police, officers arrived at the home shortly before 3 p.m. They spoke with Ahnâs sister, who alleged her brother arrived at the home driving their motherâs 2022 Toyota Rav 4. After an argument with his sister, Ahn reportedly took off in the car. He allegedly returned about 3:30 p.m., and the sister and her husband confronted him.
When the pair approached the vehicle, they reportedly noticed an unresponsive person inside the vehicle covered with âhousehold goods.â WGAL reported that investigators found Ahnâs mother, Hyun Ahn, 61, dead in the back of the vehicle. She reportedly died more than a day before police found her inside her SUV.
Surveillance video from a licensing and notary service in Harrisburg Pike reportedly showed the mother and son 48 hours before police discovered her decomposing body, WGAL reported.
Law & Crime reported that during a preliminary hearing in April, investigators told the court they found Hyun Ahnâs body inside the car covered in garbage, boxes, and McDonaldâs wrappers. The suspectâs attorney claimed his client âcovered the body out of respectâ and wasnât abusing his motherâs corpse. Instead, he was “dressing up a skeleton,” per the Daily Voice.
Law & Crime listed Hyun Ahnâs cause of death as strangulation and a traumatic brain injury. Ahn faces two counts of murder in the first degree and two counts of assault in the first degree. He is being held in the Lancaster County Jail without bond.
