6 Adults Facing Murder Charges After Newborn Baby Died From Fentanyl & Meth Overdose

A Missouri prosecuting attorney has indicted six adults in connection with the death of a 49-day-old baby in August 2024. When emergency responders first arrived at a mobile home north of Troy on August 19, they reportedly found a filthy scene littered with trash and drugs. Seven-week-old Ty’Ann Paisley Curtner was unresponsive.

Medics tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Her death opened a months-long investigation that ended in murder charges for her parents and four other adults.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Ty’Ann had two broken ribs and bleeding on the brain. At first, authorities thought her death was the result of shaking. An autopsy later revealed the infant died from fentanyl and methamphetamine exposure. Now, the adults entrusted to care for her are facing serious jail time.

Ty’Ann’s mother allegedly left her with her father prior to her death.

According to the Post-Dispatch, Selena Rodriguez, 22, left Ty’Ann with her father, Gabriel Clark, 22, for about a week prior to her death. Lincoln County Prosecutor Mike Wood said, “Fentanyl caplets and buttons were throughout the entire house. It was everywhere,” per the newspaper.

In addition to Clark, the infant’s grandmother Shawna Walton, 44, Dillon Clark, 35, and two roommates, Evan Hausermann, 43, and Adam Hausermann, 46, all stayed together in the trailer on Charlotte Drive.

The baby was likely dead for hours before anyone called 911.

Lincoln County Coroner Dan Heavin told the Post-Dispatch that the baby likely died two to six hours before anyone called 911 for help. An autopsy revealed that she died from an overdose of fentanyl and methamphetamines. Although it remains unclear how the drugs got into her system, the home reportedly posed a serious threat to the infant’s safety with drugs everywhere.

“The prevailing thought was, the fentanyl could have gotten into the formula, the fentanyl could have been on the pacifier. It could have been on the clothing,” Wood said, per the Post-Dispatch. “Because fentanyl can come through the skin or it can be ingested.”

The prosecuting attorney’s office charged all six adults in Ty’Ann’s death.

They each face second-degree murder and child endangerment counts. Police arrested Rodriguez, Walton, Gabriel Clark, Dillon Clark, and Evan Hausermann, and booked them in Lincoln County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond. As of a December 18 news release from the Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Adam Hausermann remains at large.

Wood hopes to bring Ty’Ann justice.

He expressed his gratitude in a Facebook statement that reads, “We’d like to thank all of the agencies who worked diligently in cooperation with our investigation and prosecution, and a special thank you to the Coroner‘s Office and their team of toxicologists and medical experts who helped to build these cases. We hope to find justice for this innocent child.”
