Nothing in life is guaranteed. This is a harsh reality that people face on a daily basis. However, a mom and two of her kids were recently killed by a car in a crosswalk – and her third child is in critical condition.
Natasha Saada and her daughters, Diana, 8, and Deborah, 5, are dead after a vehicle struck them in New York City. Her 4-year-old son was also hit by the car and is fighting for his life. Let’s take a closer look at the tragic accident in Brooklyn in late March 2025.
The mom and her two kids were killed after a car struck them in a crosswalk.
On March 29, an Audi A3 sedan driven by Miriam Yarimi, 32, “collided with a 2023 Toyota Camry” driven by a 63-year-old man, the New York City Police Department confirmed to People. The Audi then struck the four family members as they were in a crosswalk. After being rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, Natasha and her two daughters were pronounced dead.
Her third child is in critical condition.
Natasha’s 4-year-old son was still in “critical condition” on Sunday.
Yarimi was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn and was in stable condition, People reported.
Meanwhile, the man driving the Toyota was taken to a hospital and was also in stable condition, CBS News reported. His four passengers – three kids ages 4, 5, and 12, and a 35-year-old – were treated for minor injuries and were stable.
The driver faces multiple charges in the crash.
Yarimi has been charged with manslaughter, reckless cause of death, criminal negligence homicide, assault, and reckless driving, the NYPD told People. Additional charges include aggravated unlicensed operation, motor vehicle violation no license, traffic device violation, and a speed violation.
The driver allegedly had a suspended license.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a March 29 media conference that Yarimi was driving on a suspended license.
“I will call it like it is. This was a horrific tragedy caused by someone who shouldn’t have been on the road,” Tisch shared. “A mother and two young children killed. Another child fighting for his life. A family and a neighborhood devastated in an instant.”
During the news conference, Tisch noted that an investigation was underway to determine whether Yarimi ran a red light and if speed was a factor. A breath test was also administered to rule out possible intoxication.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams also issued a statement.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams declared the crash “a tragic, tragic accident of a Shakespearean proportion” during the media conference.
“To see a mother and her two children lost to a vehicle crash, this is extremely concerning and painful,” he shared.
“A mother going for a simple stroll on a sunny day was struck and killed,” Adams added. “As we pray for their families and this entire community, the city mourns this loss.”
