Mom’s Racist Rant Against 5-Year-Old Leads to Viral Fame & Plea for Help After Trolls Dox Her

A Minnesota mother wants sympathy and protection after a video of her racist rant at a playground went viral. Sharmake Omar reportedly recorded mother Shiloh Hendrix on April 28, 2025, at a park in Rochester. The mother carried her toddler while talking about a “n—-r” at the park. She allegedly targeted her racist tirade at a small child. After her rant made its way online, Hendrix claims trolls doxed her and she now needs help.

Omar told NBC News the incident allegedly involved Hendrix’s son and a child of Somali heritage. Omar, who also is Somali, claimed he overheard the interaction and began recording. In the video, the mother yells the N-word multiple times and gives Omar the middle finger as she walks away. He confronted Hendrix, who alleged the child had dug through her son’s things in the park. Omar asks if that justifies calling him the N-word and Hendrix replies, “If he acts like one.”

Omar told NBC News he knows the boy’s family and that he has autism.

“That little boy … was visibly upset by the incident,” he told NBC News.

City officials in Rochester viewed the video and made a statement regarding its offensive content.

“We are aware of a deeply disturbing video recorded at one of our City parks that contains racial slurs. The City of Rochester is firmly committed to fostering public spaces that are inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all residents and visitors—spaces where individuals of all backgrounds can relax, play, and connect with friends and neighbors,” officials wrote in the statement posted online. “We remain committed to that goal. The Rochester Police Department is gathering information and actively looking into the matter. If you have witnessed or are impacted by an incident such as this, you can report it by calling the non-emergency public safety line at 507-328-6800.”

In a GiveSendGo campaign, Hendrix claimed her newfound fame has caused issues for her family. The mother launched the fundraiser so she could relocate after the viral video exposed her abhorrent behavior.

“My SSN has been leaked. My address, and phone number have been given out freely. My family members are being attacked. My eldest child may not be going back to school. Even where I exercise has been exposed,” she wrote. “I am asking for your help to assist in protecting my family. I fear that we must relocate. I have two small children who do not deserve this. We have been threatened to the extreme by people online. Anything will help! We cannot, and will not live in fear!”

Hendrix set the fundraiser’s goal at $1 million, and she’s raised $665,000 thus far.

Hendrix’s fundraiser follows another controversial campaign on GiveSendGo launched by the family of Karmelo Anthony, a Black teenager accused of killing a white student at a Texas track meet. The family used the platform to raise more than $500,000 for reasons similar to Hendrix’s.

“While legal defense is a critical part of this journey, we want to make it clear that this fund is not solely dedicated to legal expenses. The funds raised will also support a range of urgent and necessary needs that have emerged as a result of this situation, including – but not limited to – the safe relocation of the Anthony family due to escalating threats to their safety and well-being, as well as basic living costs, transportation, counseling, and other security measures,” the Anthony family GiveSendGo explained.

According to co-founder Jacob Wells, GiveSendGo disabled commenting on both fundraisers following racist remarks. He explained the company’s position in a lengthy post on X.

“At GiveSendGo, we recently disabled comments on the fundraising campaigns for Karmelo Anthony and Shiloh Hendrix due to the unacceptable volume of racist and derogatory remarks. At the time comments were turned off, both campaigns had raised approximately $500,000 with around 15,000 donors each,” the post noted. “We remain committed to ensuring all funds raised are delivered to the campaign recipients as intended. However, we unequivocally condemn the hateful comments that sought to fuel division and harmful narratives. These remarks do not reflect GiveSendGo’s values of hope, compassion, and fairness,” he added.

“Our platform exists to support individuals and families in need, and we uphold the principle that everyone deserves a fair process, not judgment by mob outrage. We took action to stop the spread of divisive rhetoric while ensuring the campaigns continue to serve their intended purpose. We call for respectful dialogue and understanding, even in challenging situations. Thank you for supporting our mission to share hope and help,” Wells explained.
