Mom & Dad of 4 Both Found Dead in Their RV After Attending a Festival Together

I don’t know if all parents feel this way, but ever since having a child, I constantly think about death. It’s so incredibly morbid, but I am so acutely aware of it at all times. I thought when my son was out of his newborn phase that the stress would subside, but honestly, it’s just morphed. Now instead of worrying about how I may accidentally be at fault for his death, I worry about all the other things that could cause it.

Part of that is anxiety around my own untimely demise and what that would do to him and my husband, which doesn’t even begin to cover the worry of what happens if both of us go. In October of 2025, four kids were faced with that harrowing reality when their beloved parents were found dead in their RV.

What Happened to the Coll Family

Christopher Coll, 45, and Kayleigh Coll, 38, were attending a cider festival in New Forest, England, when their bodies were found. According to the BBC, police officers learned of the horrific tragedy after they were called to the scene by paramedics. Although the deaths were labeled as “sudden,” they didn’t appear to be suspicious, so authorities prepared a file to send to the coroner.

Approximately three months later, People reported that the cause of death was officially determined. The Winchester’s Coroner’s Courted ruled that they died from carbon monoxide poisoning and, as reported by Metro, a gas heater was reportedly found in the RV at the time.

How Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Happens

Carbon monoxide poisoning is a silent killer that has caused at least 400 unintentional deaths in the United States and over 14,000 hospitalizations. It typically happens when fuel-burning appliances such as water heaters, gas stoves, or even engines malfunction in a poorly ventilated area.

The gas is colorless, tasteless and odorless so it is virtually undetectable, but breathing in too much can make you pass out or kill you. That is why it is essential to have functioning detectors in enclosed living spaces like homes, apartments, and mobile homes.

How the Family Is Healing

“This case was opened yesterday [Monday, Jan. 5] by the coroner and further investigations are now required before a full [investigation] takes place,” Coroner Court Officer Steve Mood told People. A fully investigation will reportedly resume on July 22, 2026.

To help the grieving children, family members set up a GoFundMe account that has raised over £31,000 in donations, or more than $40,000 US, with a goal of £35,000, or about $47,000 US, to cover funeral costs with the rest going to the children to split equally.

“The impact of their deaths has hit everyone around them extremely hard, but especially their four children, Shyla, Alex, Kaizer, and Emily, who they leave behind,” wrote Laura Fox, the GoFundMe organizer.

“Kayleigh and Chris were soul mates the way they loved each other was beautiful,” she added. “It was everything they both ever wanted. They were the kind of couple that made people believe in love again.”
