Woman Slammed for Being a ‘Karen’ After Demanding 10-Year-Old Birthday Boy Give Her Home Run Ball

Everyone is familiar with Karens. You can find them anywhere: at the movie theater, the grocery store, or anywhere else where people can be. Now, one has popped up at a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game, and she’s catching a lot of heat for the way she interacted with a young boy and his dad during a recent game. Their interaction has gone viral after she demanded they give her a home run ball.

During their September 5 game against the Miami Marlins at Miami’s LoanDepot Park, Phillies player Harrison Bader hit a home run, NBC Sports Philadelphia reported. Multiple fans made a run for the ball, and one dad was successful, triumphantly placing the ball in his son’s mitt and giving the boy a hug.

Their excitement was short-lived. Almost immediately, a woman in a Phillies jersey stormed over to the father-son duo, grabbed the dad’s arm, and spoke to him angrily, video footage shows

“That was ours!” the woman scolded in a video shared by someone sitting nearby. “No, you took it from me!” she swore. “You took it from me! That was in my hands.”

After a few tense seconds, the man acquiesced, giving the woman the ball. The fan who posted the clip dubbed the woman “Krazy Karen,” and many in the stands agreed. Fellow game attendees began chanting “Karen” at the woman.

To soften the blow of losing the home run ball, a stadium employee brought the boy a gift bag.

Now, the boy’s dad, Drew Feltwell, is speaking out about the incident. He told NBC 10 that he was at the game to celebrate his son Lincoln’s 10th birthday.

“We’re just trying to make this week about him,” Feltwell explained. He said he hoped that giving his son the home run ball would get them on TV. “I felt like super dad putting that ball in his glove and giving him a hug.”

The dad said he’s “still in disbelief” that the woman approached them the way she did. “Putting the ball in his glove and then taking it back out killed me,” he added to NBC 10. He apologized to Lincoln for giving her the ball, but he said he was “trying to set an example of how to de-escalate a situation.”

After the altercation, a representative from the Philadelphia Phillies approached the family, inviting them to come meet the player after the game. Lincoln got to meet Bader, who ended up signing a bat for the birthday boy.

“I wish I had the ball for my son to put in his room next to the bat, but if I had the ball, I probably wouldn’t have gotten the bat, so it worked out fine,” Feltwell told NBC 10. “We ended up having a good night because of good people.”

The dad said they’re going to get a bat display for Lincoln’s room. And if the woman with the ball ever reaches out, they say they would hear her out.

“I hope that ball means a lot to her.”
