Police ID 2 Children After Remains Encased in Concrete Found in Colorado Storage Unit

Nearly six years since they were last seen alive, police in Pueblo, Colorado, announced they have discovered the remains of two children. Jesus Dominguez Jr. and Yesenia Dominguez were last seen in 2018, when they were 5 and 3 years old, respectively. On January 20, police were called to an address in Pueblo for suspicious activity, which ultimately led to the discovery of human remains in a storage unit.

Pueblo police announced the arrest of two persons of interest in connection with the case, Corena Minjarez, 36, and Jesus Dominguez, 35, in a news release. Sadly, according to police, no missing person reports were ever made for the children.

Police found something suspicious on January 20.

According to the release, police arrived at a storage unit around 8:40 a.m. after a report of suspicious activity. Upon their arrival, they reportedly found a metal container inside a storage facility that was filled with hardened concrete. Pueblo Police Special Victims Unit took over the investigation and said it was looking for the two young children.

Investigators identified two persons of interest.

Police interviewed Minjarez and Dominguez on January 31, identifying them as persons of interest in the case. During their investigation, police were allegedly told the children may be in Phoenix, Arizona, but after following up on that information, they found nothing.

Dominguez is the children's father, but Minjarez is not related to them, according to 9News.

Police reportedly found human remains inside a car.

According to the news release, investigators were led to a metal scrap yard and a car that belonged to Minjarez. Inside the vehicle, they reportedly found a suitcase with human remains inside. On February 15, autopsies confirmed the remains in the metal container in the storage unit belonged to Yesenia Dominguez and the remains in the suitcase belonged to Jesus Dominguez.

Tragically, no one had reported the children missing.

Per 9News, prior to the discovery of Yesenia Dominguez's remains, no one had reported the children missing. It is unclear how long Dominguez and Minjarez had been together or when the children died.

Saddened community members posted on the Pueblo Police Department's Facebook page, hoping for justice for the children.

"There is a Special Place in Hell for Child Killers. Hopefully some of the JAIL Inmates these 2 are in with show them NO MERCY!" someone wrote.

"I pray for justice for these little angels. Hopefully the DA does not go with a plea agreement like they do with all these people that murdered someone!!!!!!!!" another comment reads.

Police issued warrants for the father and his girlfriend.

Both are currently in custody and face charges of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse. Dominguez faces an additional charge of theft of government benefits. Both suspects are being held in the Pueblo County Detention Center with bond set at $2 million each.

If convicted, they could face life in prison or the death penalty.
