Katelynn Ordone, mom of Preston Ordone, aka the “Okay Baby” on TikTok, is sharing an update after the loss of her son. Two-year-old Preston died in a car crash in Louisiana on April 24, 2025. Katelynn and her husband Jaelan, were also involved in the crash, suffering serious but non-fatal injuries.
The family’s car crashed after veering off the road, and hit a tree. Preston was in his car seat and suffered injuries that proved fatal. Initial police reports claimed that the boy wasn’t properly restrained in his car seat. However, the Ordones refute the claim.
Katelynn Ordone posted a lengthy note in an Instagram post, sharing an update about the family after the accident. First, she thanked everyone for the support they’ve offered her and her husband since the tragedy.
“Nothing will take away the pain we feel and how much we miss Preston every single day,” she wrote. “But it is helpful to have such a strong support system in the midst of living our worst nightmare.”
The note explains that the couple “suffered severe concussions and have no memory of the accident.” She mentioned that there was “misinformation” about the crash and wanted to “share the most accurate information we have at this time.”
Ordone revealed that she and her husband “hired an independent accident reconstruction expert to thoroughly review the incident” due to their inability to remember.
Much of her update focused on Preston and his car seat. It was the cause of the most speculation at the time of the accident. “Preston was properly secured in a two-piece, 360-degree car seat positioned behind the passenger seat,” she wrote. According to Ordone, witnesses at the scene confirmed the toddler “remained fully restrained in his car seat throughout the incident.”
“He was removed from the vehicle still securely fastened and brought to the side of the road by bystanders — this occurred before any emergency vehicle arrived at the scene,” the note said. “Witnesses shared that it appeared to take at least 15 minutes for first responders to arrive, at which point Preston was still fully secured in his car seat and was handed over to them.”
She also shared that according to the report, the base of Preston’s car seat was “properly installed and belted in.” Careful not to name the brand of the car seat, she mentioned a possible defect. It seemed that there was an issue with how the seat connected to the base. She said the locking pins “were stuck in the engaged position.” This could have caused the seat to not fully secure to the base.
“After learning this, we further researched this particular car seat and discovered the issue has been reported by others as well,” she explained.
Ordone also shared a possible cause for the crash. “It is currently believed to have been the result of a medical emergency, which is consistent with the vehicle’s deceleration and steering behavior,” she wrote.
According to the St. Tammany Parish coroner’s office, the death of Preston Ordone has been categorized as accidental. Family members of the Ordones have created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with medical bills and other costs.
