Teacher’s Text Reveals Student Lied About a Dead Sibling for Attention

There are some kids who just can’t get enough attention. As someone with a child who invariably interrupts me when I am doing anything other than staring at her with my full attention at any given time, I understand this. I also understand that, sometimes, kids will go to some pretty wild lengths to maintain that eye of attention on them. Like one woman on TikTok, Kiara, shared in a video of a text from her daughter’s teacher.

In the screenshots, the teacher lets Kiara know that he hugged and comforted her daughter at school because she let the teacher know that she was mourning the loss of her sister. The kicker? Kiara promptly responded back to let the teacher know that her daughter is, and has always been, an only child. Ope.

The mom says she is 100 percent “one and done” with this kid of hers.

Kiara’s daughter’s teacher texted her at the end of the day with a totally heartfelt note about how Kiara’s daughter was feeling at school. You know, because of the loss of her sister, and all.

The sister who we now know is actually nonexistent.

He wrote, “I apologize in advance if l’m overstepping any boundaries but I just wanted to let you know that Alaia was very sad today because she said her sister passed away. L gave her a hug and a break, which calmed her down and she went back to work. I just wanted to bring it up to you so you’re aware.”

Immediately after, Kiara responded, “Mr. Barbosa, Alaia is literally an only child. She has no sister. I have no idea why she told you that. I will speak to her.”

In the caption, Kiara wrote, “My daughter really keeps me on my toes at all times. I’m for sure a one and done.” Can’t really blame her there.

After Kiara shared the screenshot of the text message exchange, other parents commented with their own stories of their kids pulling a similar stunt and totally confusing well-meaning people in their lives.

One parent shared, “My daughter told her kindergarten teacher she has a peanut allergy and five dogs at home. None of that is true.”

A teacher wrote, “”I’m a kindergarten teacher and one of my kids told me their DAD passed away. Guess who picked them up that day?”

“She practicing for when she wants to get out of work one day,” another user joked in the comment section.

Someone else joked, “Baby girl was getting a break by any means necessary.”

Other users commented to joke that Kiara’s daughter needs acting classes like yesterday. Maybe she just has a flair for the dramatics. Being an only child does make you a little more confident to push the buttons of the adults around you, after all.

The better question about this is if she will learn from it. I mean, she might learn that the whole ordeal did her her some attention in the end, so there’s that.
