Police in Enterprise, Alabama, are urgently searching for a toddler who has gone missing. Genesis Nova Reid was reported missing by her mother in the middle of the night. The authorities immediately sprung into action, creating a search perimeter and employing different agencies to lend support. But as their investigation continued, things started not to add up. While the mom gave one possible suspect in her daughter’s disappearance, some believe something else might be going on. Neighbors who were used to seeing the mother and daughter together began to realize that things were off and now, the mom faces charges.
The 2-year-old girl was reported missing by her mother Adrienne Reid, around 3 a.m. on February 16, 2026, the Enterprise Police Department said in a news release. The mom told police she went to check on the toddler and discovered she wasn’t in the home. Not only that, the door of the home was allegedly open.
Reid was detained for questioning on February 17, after detectives conducted multiple interviews.
“Enterprise Police are seeking information about Moriah, described as a Black female who frequented Levels Bar and Grille on Daleville Avenue in Enterprise as well as areas in Ozark. Police said if Moriah, or anyone who knows her, has any information or connection to Genesis or the child’s mother, they should contact authorities immediately,” the release said.
“The missing child’s father and other relatives are cooperating fully with the investigation.”
During the investigation, neighbors claimed that they hadn’t seen Genesis for over a month, WDHN reported. One neighbor said she noticed the girl and her mom had stopped taking their regular walks around the neighborhood. Another said she hadn’t seen the girl since Christmas. She added that her child usually played with the girl.
On February 16, the Enterprise Police Department asked that anyone who had seen the girl in the last 30 days get in touch with them.
Tyler McGowan, another neighbor, had a strange encounter with Adrienne Reid on February 14, he told WTVY.
“You know, now we’re talking about the little girl and everything like that. I said, ‘Aren’t we missing somebody?’ You know what I’m saying? And she said, ‘Uh…’ I said, ‘Well, where’s the little girl at?’ She said, ‘Uh, I don’t know.’ And she walked off on me,” he said.

Given this revelation, police didn’t try to quash speculation that Reid may have been lying when she said Genesis went missing on February 16, WTVY reported. While police didn’t publicly dispute her story, the outlet believes there are indicators that made them suspicious that Reid isn’t telling the truth.
When reporters asked police if they were encouraging public searches for the toddler, the answer raised eyebrows.
“I don’t think we’re at a point right now to have mass search parties,” Enterprise Police Captain Billy Haglund answered.
Haglund’s words echo the sentiment shared by Chief Michael Moore in the news release. “We have a large search party out today,” he said. “If you are not part of that party, we ask that you remain out of the search area. If you would like to assist when relief is needed, please contact the police department and offer your assistance.”
According to the release, a “large, coordinated search operation” was underway. Moore said they are using “specific and strategic patterns to maintain the integrity of the scene.”
Anyone with information about Genesis, no matter what kind of information it is, should call the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.
On February 17, the Enterprise Police shared an update on Facebook. The department announced that 33-year-old Reid was charged in connection with her daughter’s disappearance. She’s charged with false reporting to law enforcement agencies, a Class C felony. The charge came after further investigation into the “circumstances surrounding the initial missing-child report.”
