17 Tweets That Reveal What Gen Z Hates About Millennials

We don’t know when it happened, but all of a sudden millennials are old. Seriously — we are the old people and Gen Z are what’s new and hip. It feels like just yesterday we were teaching our parents how to use Facebook, checking out the latest episode of My Super Sweet 16, and posting above-angle selfies on our MySpace pages. We deserve a little respect. After all, some of us had to grow up using AOL as our only way to access the internet.

But if Twitter is to be believed, the kids are here and they’re coming for us, fellow millennials. The beef started on TikTok, where millennials got flak for being too old, too tied to their Hogwarts house, and too obsessed with using the laughing crying emoji — and we can't forget the whole side part and skinny jeans debacle. Just to let us all know what we’re up against, we’ve collected 17 tweets from Gen Z that shows exactly what they hate about us — and it's pretty brutal.

Don't Be Mean to Grandma

I don't know what's worse, feeling the scorn of a Gen-Z with a Twitter account or being officially OLD. When in the world did that happen?!

A List of Things They Hate

No. 1,

Second, Gen-Z will never know how exciting emojis were when they first came out. We can send messages on the phone? And they can be cute? These kids clearly never lived through the TTYL era and it shows.

10 Points for Gryffindor

Much has been said of the millennial love of Harry Potter, but that's because it's simply the best. If a millennial doesn't have a Pottermore account and a quidditch team, then they weren't it.

That's Not Very Adulting of You

Where did adulting come from? I don't know. Why has adulting stuck around? Who's to say? All we know is that being an adult is hard and anything that can make it easier is something to celebrate.

At Least They Aren't Boot-Cut Jeans

We will give the Gen Z one thing: High-rise jeans are much better than low-rise jeans. And let's not go back to the dark, dark times of bootcut jeans under long tunics.

That Whole Adulting Thing Again

How else can one celebrate buying a couch? Do it. Say adulting. It feels good! It feels right. A-dulting. Adulting! It's the fun little treat when we get done any of our adult-like tasks.

Sorry, Not Sorry

It's not that we hate Gen Z, it's just how can we respect anyone who didn't share their whole lives on MySpace? Talk to my Xanga, Gen Z. Lonely by Akon plays when the page opens up.

Gasp!

Listen Youngster, millennials created the GIF and we can take them away too. What else are we supposed to use when thinking about our Fall Out Boy and studded belt phase?

The Force Isn't With This One

We have lives too, Gen Z. Lives filled with watching the amazing new Star Wars movies. Only we know the pain of the Jar Jar Binks years — and we'll watch as many Star Wars movies as it takes to forget them.

Shakes Fist

Fear us, Gen Z. We're old, we don't understand what the youngsters like, our clothes are out of fashion, and we have to ask Mom and Dad for the keys to the car on Friday night.

I Don't Like This a Latte

Whoa! Shots fired! Now excuse me while we head over to Starbucks to get our favorite Frappuccino, while wearing my Juicy tracksuit, and re-read my favorite posts from Thoughts Catalogue.

But I'm a Smol Bean :(

Hey now, some of us just really, really like internet lingo, SMDH. Gen Z just needs to wait. One day all the things they think are cool will go out of fashion, too.

15 Times This Tweet Was Mean

Millennial culture is under attack and we simply won't stand for it. We walked (or Razor scootered) so the younger generations can run and we won't let anyone forget it.

Nothing Good Happens After 2 AM

We should have never let Gen Z have TikTok — that's where this whole mess started. First they came for our use of the word "doggo," then they came for our love of the '90s. How rude!

Gail Would Like a Word

It's so rude of Gen Z to bring Boomers into the equation. Yes, our parents were Boomers, but … well OK, they might have a point on this one. Sorry, Mom!

Sorry, Tiffany

On behalf of all my Tiffanys, Jennifers, and Allisons out there, we need to point out that Gen Z was too young for many classic '90s toys like Tamagotchis, Furbies, and Pretty, Pretty, Princess. And that's their loss!

The Truest Tweet To Have Ever Been Tweeted

Love us or hate us, there is one thing we can all agree on — millennials are misunderstood. We are the generation who came of age during the 2008 recession, we were the first generation raised on the internet, and we bridged the gap between Boomers and the burgeoning world of technology. The Youth might not like us, yet, but IMHO it's never easy to be pioneers. TTYL!
