Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia Decker, the three Washington sisters who were reported missing on May 30, have been found dead. The girls went missing after a planned visitation with their father, Travis Decker. Normally, Travis Decker was responsible and returned the girls on time, but that day, things were different. Washington state police issued an endangered persons report for the girls and their father, who was homeless and living out of his car or hotels. Now, their mother is grieving the loss of her beloved daughters as her community rallies around her.
According to KIRO, Travis Decker’s estranged wife Whitney Decker called the Wenatchee Police Department just before 10 p.m. She told police that Travis Decker had yet to return 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia from their planned visitation. Since they didn’t meet the criteria for an AMBER Alert, police filed an endangered persons report instead.
On Monday, June 2, law enforcement, as well as the FBI went searching for Travis Decker and his 2017 GMC truck. At that point, they obtained a warrant for Travis Decker’s arrest. He was being charged with three counts of first-degree custodial interference. Eventually, law enforcement found the car near Rock Island Campground, but no one was in it.
Sadly, the bodies of the three girls were found near the truck, but Travis Decker was nowhere to be found. Currently, he remains missing, and now faces three counts of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.
Court documents KIRO obtained say the girls may have died by asphyxiation. Police found zip ties and plastic bags scattered around the area where their bodies were found. Additionally, the truck allegedly had two bloody handprints. Police think he may have planned the murders. Cellphone records show Travis Decker was in the area a few days before picking the girls up for their visit.
The news outlet also obtained copies of paperwork Whitney Decker filed in court to modify the parenting plan she and Travis Decker had in place. In papers filed on September 20, 2024, Whitney Decker said: “Since our separation, it has become increasingly clear that Travis has been struggling to maintain stability in his life.” Court paperwork describes him as “transient.”
Whitney made it clear she wanted Travis to attend anger management classes and get psychiatric help if he was going to continue spending time with the girls. She also asked the court to stop overnight visits since her ex-husband was living in his truck.
“Travis just keeps getting more and more unstable. He has made huge sacrifices to serve our country and loves his girls very much, but he has got to get better for our girls. I do not want to keep Travis from the girls at all,” she said.
A GoFundMe for Whitney Decker aims to help her with the financial and emotional stress that comes with burying her three daughters. “Their light touched so many, and the pain of this loss is immeasurable,” the fundraiser page says.
Police don’t have any leads to Travis Decker’s whereabouts. Decker is 5′8″ and weighs around 190 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes with a mustache and beard. He may have his hair in a ponytail.
Police don’t know if he’s armed, but he could pose a risk if approached.
