A Maryland woman evidently had her fill of disrespect at The Most Magical Place on Earth and let a boy in her travel group know it. Kristy Crampton allegedly unleashed her anger at a child onboard an Allegiant Air flight on May 26. Crampton reportedly physically attacked the unnamed boy and wound up in jail following her arrest at Florida’s Orlando Sanford International Airport. Witnesses claim this wasn’t an adult correcting a child but a disturbing act of abuse.
According to a Sanford Airport Police Report obtained by WFTV, the incident seemingly started after the victim began calling Crampton names. Crampton and the child were among a group of travelers leaving Orlando following a trip to Walt Disney World and flying back home to Hagerstown, Maryland. The victim reportedly called Crampton “fat” and “Miss Piggy.”
A witness claimed the child told Crampton she was too big to fit in the airplane seat. Crampton allegedly snapped and “began hitting the child with her fist.” She reportedly attacked the boy with a water bottle and “slammed” his head into an airplane window. The child apparently tried to protect himself by putting his arms over his head. A short time later, Crampton found herself in handcuffs.
Following her arrest, Crampton allegedly told police the child was “very rude” and “disrespectful” during their Disney Trip. After the child began making fat jokes, Crampton told police she took his phone away. The woman told police the child pushed her arm off the armrest multiple times, and she began “smacking” him.
A witness told police that Crampton’s behavior disturbed them. “The woman was not correcting the child, she was abusing him,” a witness claimed. Police noted the suspect’s behavior went beyond “typical disciplinary actions.”
On December 31, 2024, Crampton posted on Facebook, “I hope 2025 is good to my mom.”
“QUIT HITTING KIDS,” someone commented on May 28.
But another person made a strange comment.
“Only shame here is you got caught,” they wrote. “The kid deserved a serious attitude adjustment and lesson in how to talk to another person. School bully in training.”
Police arrested Crampton, and she was booked on a felony child abuse charge. A Seminole County judge released her on a $10,000 bond on May 27. The judge ordered her not to have contact with the child. The relationship between Crampton and the victim remains unclear.
