Woman Allegedly Told Ex-Lover ‘Here’s Your Kid’ Before Leaving Him a Cooler With Dead Fetus Inside

TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about stillbirth and infant loss, which may be triggering to some.

When a fling goes sour, some people handle it with grace. While others like to get back at their former lover. A couple in Missouri reportedly had a friendship with benefits that culminated in a very unhappy ending. When they broke up, Makayla Haedt, 29, allegedly left a surprise for her man that even he was afraid to open. When he did, what he found inside was the kind of stuff nightmares are made of.

According to a probable cause statement, Haedt and the unidentified man had been friends for a number of years. He claimed they “never dated, it was more of a fling,” per Waynesville Police. On September 17, 2025, Haedt allegedly texted the man and told him she’d had a miscarriage. Her lover called her a “habitual liar” and didn’t think much about her claim. Later that day, she picked him up and the pair ran errands. She never mentioned the miscarriage while they were out.

Haedt and the man returned to his home later that afternoon. The man told police that as he burned trash at the residence, Haedt threw a Walmart bag of clothing on the fire. She then gave the man some food and handed him a cooler that was taped shut. She reportedly told him, “Here’s your kid,” before driving off.

The man told police he spent a long time contemplating whether or not to open the cooler. He figured Haedt was making a “cruel f—ed-up joke.” Ultimately, he called a friend over to open it with him. Horrifically, there was, in fact, a dead fetus inside. That’s when the man called police.

With tears in his eyes, the man apologized to the police for having to see what was inside the cooler.

“This is the type of thing you see on the internet all the time, but don’t ever think it will happen to you,” he reportedly said.

Police executed a warrant and ultimately arrested Haedt a short time later. She faces a felony first-degree harassment charge. A court placed her in jail on a $50,000 bond.

According to court documents, first responders transported the fetus to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital to determine its weight and gestational age. The case remains under investigation.
