North West and Nevaeh (heaven, spelled backwards) seem to be just a couple of the craziest baby names in recent years. But if you thought those two were just a little off the beaten path, the 19th century will top it. The British genealogy firm, Fraser & Fraser, just came out with the 10 wildest Victorian baby names, and prepare to be shocked.
Leave it to the parents of yesteryear to completely shock us with their name choices. Here are the top (or really, bottom) 10:
- Friendless: Dear ol' Friendless Baxter, born in Leeds, West Yorks in 1871, definitely had a great time making friends in school.
- Faith Hope Charity: Faith Hope Charity Brown (come on, parents, you couldn't get Love in there too?) was born in 1892 in Gillingham, Kent. She was nice enough to befriend Friendless. We hope.
- Leicester Railway: Leicester Railway Cope was born at the Leichester Railway Station, so what better way to honor his (her?) birthplace?
- Time Of: last name, Day. Born in 1899 in Hoo, Kent, the little kid mastered telling time early in life.
- One Too Many: One Too Many Gouldstone was born in 1870 in Walthamstow, London. Possibly to the 19th century version of the Duggar family.
- Windsor: not a totally wild name on its own, but thanks to Dad's last name, Windsor Castle (born in 1876) had an interesting namesake. And sadly, no royal blood.
- Zebra: baby Zebra Lynes was actually all-human. Believe it or not.
- Ann Bertha Cecilia Diana Emily Fanny Gertrude Hypatia Iug Jane Kate Louisa Maud Nora Orphelia Quince Rebecca Starkey Teresa Ulysis Venus Winifred Xenophen Yetty Zeus Pepper: At least they skipped the "P" in her middle name sequence. Only to save it for later.
- That's It Who'd Have Thought It: In 1886, the Restells welcomed That's It Who'd Have Thought It. Who'd have thought it?!
- Mineral: World, meet Mineral Waters. Mineral Waters, the world apologizes on behalf of your parents.
Which crazy name is your favorite?
