This Mom’s ‘Genius’ Hack for Clearing Her Baby’s Nose Has People Debating

Cold and flu season is upon us and, unfortunately, our little ones definitely aren't immune to coughs and stuffy noses. While tools like the NoseFrida can help parents easily get rid of snot and congestion in their kids' noses, one mom sparked a firestorm after sharing a video of her very own DIY nose-clearing hack.

The video begins with a mom placing a syringe filled with salt water into the nose of her smiling baby girl.

Instead of kicking and screaming as expected, the little one handles the intrusion pretty well.

While the mom speaks in a foreign language throughout the video, Mirror UK reports that she is instructing her daughter to keep her mouth open.

Then, the mom quickly pushes the stopper on the syringe and shoots what looks like water or saline into her daughter's nose.

This, in turn, causes a downpour of snot to come out of her daughter's other nostril.

Admittedly, it's pretty damn gross to witness.

But also, very informative.

In the end, the strange -- and slightly gross -- hack leaves behind a smiling, happy baby.

The video drew tons of views from parents eager to try the hack themselves.

Even medical professionals chimed in to commend the mom on her "genius" little trick.

But, after noticing that the mom's "hack" bears a striking resemblance to the Neti Pot, some also chimed in to voice concerns.

Fearing that they would "drown" their babies, cause infections, or something even worse, many parents are calling the video dangerous. But according to the FDA, "nasal rinsing devices" like the Neti Pot and the makeshift one used by the mom in this video can be safe and beneficial for children if done correctly using the tools that are clean and appropriate for little noses. Though, as always, they do mention that it's best to discuss nasal rinses with your child's pediatrician before you use them.

Much like the NoseFrida, this hack seems like an easy and effective way to keep your kids snot-free — even if the entire ordeal does leave you wrist-deep in baby boogers.
