The mother of a 15-year-old girl who died just weeks before turning 16 claims she lost her “heart” the day her daughter passed away. Aleia Kuhn died in a car accident on June 18, 2025, outside Philippi Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia, after leaving her youth group gathering that night. Now, her mother, Amanda Schroeder-Kuhn, has to deal with the unimaginable grief of losing her child.
Caring for a Cause shared Aleia’s story on Facebook. The organization called her a “beautiful soul” who “pointed others to Jesus.”
“She wasn’t just a child in the community, she was a sister, a daughter, a best friend, a first love, and a follower of Christ. Aleia lived a life bursting with color, creativity, and compassion,” Caring for a Cause shared. “She would have turned 16 in just 34 days, and she was so excited. But oh, how she lived every one of those 15 years to the fullest.”
Aleia loved Chick-fil-A, ranch dressing, and Cheetos Puffs. She also had a sweet tooth and a penchant for Nerd Clusters and Twizzlers. The teen “was known for the kindness she radiated to everyone around her,” the post shared.
Aleia’s mother shared her grief in a Facebook post.
“My sweetest baby girl is now my forever angel,” Schroeder-Kuhn wrote. “Aleia was my backbone and my heart. She was too good for this earth but I’m too selfish to not want her back. She was mine and I wasn’t ready. She loved so big. She showed her love for Jesus everyday to everyone but I wasn’t ready for Him to want her back already.”
Caring for a Cause encouraged the community to pray for the Kuhn family and to act when they need them. “When heartbreak strikes, our community shows up. That’s who we are,” the organization shared.
Following Aleia’s death, Philippi Baptist Church hosted a candlelight vigil in her honor.
The family planned an “open mic” for Aleia’s funeral so loved ones could speak their heart in her memory. “If you have something to share and do not wish to speak it, you can write it down to be read. Hearing her memories and the light she was is what we will cherish forever,” Schroeder-Kuhn shared on Facebook.
