I Had 3 Babies in 10 Months & It’s ‘All About Survival’

Having three kids close together isn’t something for the weak. There’s a difference between having three kids close together in age and having legitimate triplets. But one mom in the UK considers her three kids triplets even though they aren’t.

The mom knows that having three kids, including a set of twins, has been “chaos.” But instead of letting it overwhelm her, she’s learned to embrace the experience. And now, it just feels like this is how things are supposed to be.

The couple had their first child in 2018.

Louise Bailey and Chris Goulden had their first child, a daughter named Ava, in December 2018. Ava was born at 29 weeks premature, and as a result she was left with disabilities including cerebral palsy. Not long after, the mom found herself pregnant again. She had forgotten to take her birth control pill.

“Three babies in 10 months was not part of the plan at all – we just couldn’t think what to do, we were so shocked,” Louise said in an interview with The US Sun.

The couple had a set of twins next.

In October 2019, Louise gave birth to twin boys Lucas and Elijah, who were born premature at 30 weeks. “It was very hard navigating being a first-time parent with a child with complex needs and having premature twins to look after,” the mom admitted. “It was terrifying and very overwhelming.”

The family is embracing the chaos.

Having three little ones at the same time was not easy, especially given all of their medical needs. Louise said that she was “more anxious than your average first-time mum.”

“The first few years were just a blur – it was all about survival. We seemed to be up all night with them in sequence,” the mom shared with the news outlet.

The mom has learned to be fully present for her family.

Now, Louise’s kids are getting older, and the mom is enjoying moving into a new phase of life with her three “amazing” kids, who she considers “kind and considerate and very happy.”

“The best part for me is watching their relationships with each other developing,” she said. “Things started to feel a bit more settled about a year ago, but it’s still a very happy chaos.” Now, they “just roll with it.”
