For some, Halloween provides the perfect opportunity to bridge the sexy and the spooky. Thatâs all fine and good if youâre an adult searching for a costume or planning a party. That wasnât the case, however, for one Australian mom who was trying to decorate her home for Halloween with her husband and young son but ended up having to explain a sex doll to her little one. Although this doll might have been considered a treat for some customers, this mom was anything but pleased with the situation.
The woman's son opened the package and discovered the doll.
The mother ordered a âscary fake corpse in a bagâ to decorate their lawn, according to the New York Post. The piece was supposed to include a black plastic bag, silver tape, a string, and an inflatable mannequin.
The mannequin was supposed to be nondescript: no features and certainly no orifices. But when her son opened the package, he found something else entirely.
The mother took her outrage to Facebook.
The body was an anatomically correct, inflatable female doll complete with breasts, bent arms, and holes in the front and back. In other words, it was a sex doll.
The mother was understandably horrified. She posted about it in the private Facebook group "What I Asked For VS What I Got."
Some in the group wondered why she made a big deal about the doll and didnât just act like she didnât know its intended use. She said certain parts of the doll were hard to explain away.
She said she couldn't think of another reason for the holes or ignore them.
âIt was more the fact, he noticed the holes in the back/front of the product and started asking questions … the face was easily explained but when thereâs holes in intimate areas, that was a little harder to explain!â she wrote, according to the Post.  âI ordered a Halloween decoration, not a SEX DOLL! That is the point.â
She contacted Amazon to get her money back. The retail giant, however, assured her that this was exactly what sheâd ordered. âWe just sent exactly what you ordered, perhaps not as perfect as what you expected. The quality is equal to its price and we really checked it well,â the seller wrote.
Amazon offered a refund but the mother wanted more.
The company offered a refund and said she could keep the doll as a gift, as well as offering $40% off her next purchase, according to the Sun. Apparently, however, that wasnât enough.
In the correspondence she shared on Facebook, the mother wrote: "The money is not the point, you sent me a SEX DOLL and my 10-year-old opened it! I believe that a full refund is in order at the VERY least. I really want a public apology."
Other parents still thought she could have played it off.
Other Facebook users didnât necessarily see the need for all that.
âTape the arms down and the legs together and wrap in the bin bag and you're good to go,â one user wrote, according to the US Sun.
âIâd just say it's a creepy doll and once wrapped up probably wouldn't even think about it," another person suggested.
We doubt this mother will get an apology from Amazon, but her story certainly gave us â and many other â a good laugh.
