Little kids' birthday parties are fairly standard: get a cake, some balloons, and games. Usually, parents hold the party at their home, a local park, maybe something fun like the zoo or a children's museum. But then you hear about parties being held in more extravagant places and you gotta admit to feeling some FOMO.
One mom is going viral on TikTok after celebrating her daughter's third birthday with a party at IKEA. That's right, the same store where you get Swedish meatballs and furniture that is never easy to put together.

Having a birthday party at IKEA is super original
There was even a birthday cake
After the scavenger hunt, the group went back to the event room for the best part of any birthday party: cake. In addition to the cake, the store provided ice cream for all of the kids.
The cutest part was yet to come. Many of the store's employees came in and sang a special happy birthday to Lucy. She got her very own employee shirt to go with her official name badge, and a cute chair. All of the adult attendees got IKEA gift cards, and the kids got goody bags. How generous.
Lucy even got a giant birthday card that was signed by all of the employees at the local IKEA.
The comments on the video were so sweet
"IKEA BIRTHDAY PARTY?!? Yeah, my 34th birthday is going to be lit!!!" one person wrote.
"I was picturing 20 little kids assembling Billy bookcases. Just me?" someone else said.
"I would absolutely die if I saw these kids marching through the store! This is so cute! I’d be like WHO NEEDS HELP WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR," another person mentioned.
Even one of the store employees saw the video and left a comment: "Employee here! i made her the name badges and i hope she loved them!! she’s so cute & i’m glad she enjoyed the event."
Can you throw a party at IKEA??
There were several comments asking how it was possible to throw a party at IKEA, so the mom posted a follow-up video. First, she explained why Lucy wanted a birthday party at IKEA in the first place.
"She found a place that she could play with toys, jump on beds, AND eat pizza all in the same store? And I'll allow it? She fell in love," the mom said.
Since she works in social media marketing, mom decided to reach out on social media to see if throwing a party at her local IKEA was even possible. IKEA US reached out via Facebook. They reached out to IKEA Tampa, asking the store if they'd be interested in throwing the party.
"They took the idea to the moon!" the mom said.
Since this isn't something that is typically done at the store, they came up with a custom package and pricing. If you wanted to do the same, you'd have to reach out to your local IKEA store.
