Relationships are hard when you're a single parent, but one woman's story takes it to the extreme. In a Reddit post that has since been removed, a single mom said that her "dream man" asked her to put her 3-year-old daughter up for adoption because he couldn't handle the thought of being a parent to the preschooler.
Of course, his request left the woman utterly devastated.

Of course she asked him to elaborate on what he meant by "broken." He proceeded, saying that her daughter being born out of wedlock and having little to no contact with the biological father was a "mess" that he "doesn't deserve to deal with."
He then told her that she should consider allowing her sister or a close family member to adopt the girl so she could still see her daughter…just not every day.
Apparently, this guy was actually serious.
"I feel as if I am in emotional shock right now, almost like someone who I really loved died," she wrote. "What is the first thing I need to do?"
The commenters had no problems offering their advice.
"He said he wanted you to give away your child and you’re still trying to make it work?" someone asked.
"If this is your dream partner you might want to set your aspirations a little higher," someone else said.
"This can't legitimately be your 'dream' partner? Not only does he not love your child but he considers you broken and your life a mess that he doesn't deserve to deal with… That's all pretty gross of him to say. The bar can't be that low," a person commented.
She also added that giving up her daughter was not an option and wanted to convince him to "drop" the adoption idea and accept her daughter.
