Kids are literal human sponges. Like it or not, they soak up a ton of information wherever they go — even if you think they're not paying any attention at all. That's precisely the point that @atxhills (aka Mr. Hills) recently made on TikTok, when he explained why parents should watch what they say and do in front of their young kids. (Unless, of course, they don't mind having their dirty laundry aired in public.)
The former Pre-K teacher shared the hilarious clip just last month
That isn't the only wild story Hills has, though
He also shares how "pretend play" in the classroom can sometimes get out of hand when art quite literally imitates life.
Case in point? Once, he overheard a group of students playing house when a little boy playing "Dad" started yelling at his kids (aka the other classmates). But it wasn't just the tone of how the boy spoke to them that alarmed Hills; it was also what he said.
"Hey!" the little boy shouted. "I told you, I'm goin' outside in the garage, I'm gonna drink a 40 with my homies … that's why I be cheatin' on you, because you always on my back!"
In his final story, Hills recalls a strange encounter he had with another preschooler
According to the former teacher, he noticed a new girl named Jasmine wasn't playing with the other kids during free time, but kept staring at them from afar instead.
"Jasmine, sweetheart, you can go play with them," Hills reminded her.
"But she's like, 'Nah,'" he recalled. "'I'm just watching to see how everybody moves … I'm trying to find out who's the head bitch in charge."
So far, people have found the TikTok to be hilarious
"I swear, this dude has a whole mini telenovela in his classroom," one person quipped.
"I'd be a teacher just for the dramatics," another declared.
Plenty of other preschool teachers chimed in, too.
""As a former Pre-K teacher, this is incredibly accurate!" wrote one person.
"I'm currently a Pre-K teacher and can confirm that these kids say crazy things!!" added another.
"The tea lies within those pretend games!!!!" said another person.
Then there were those who shared stories of their own
"When I worked in a daycare, a kid randomly said, 'Daddy dresses in mommy's clothes when she's not home,'" the user shared. "This was about 20 years ago."
"I worked in a daycare and 5yo declared loudly, 'My daddy don’t want my Mama no more, he got himself a NEW woman now!!'" another person wrote.
"Elementary school secretary here," someone else shared. "Those kids tell us ALLLLLLLL your business with no prompting whatsoever."
(Gulp.) It may come as no big surprise that your secrets are never really safe with a preschooler … but these stories really take the cake.
