15 Close-Ups Of The Best Beauty Looks From The 2019 Grammy Awards

Some might argue that last night's Grammy Awards ceremony was all about the music. But for us, it was all about beauty. Heavy makeup was at an all-time low last night, and hair drama was at an all-time high. The ladies came to win, and they did so both in the arena and on the red carpet. From cornrows to bare skin to elegant bronzed eye shadow, we're still dreaming about last night's minimal extravaganza.

Ahead, check out 15 of our personal favorites from last night. They slayed completely and showed us exactly how to kick off an awards season.

Cardi B

The first-time winner was the head-turner of the night wearing 1995 Mugler couture. It was only right that her hair, makeup, and nails matched the drama of her gown. Her pink cut crease with a simple nude lip and elevated chignon was the winner of the evening. For her nails, Cardi rocked her signature coffin shape with OPI's Gel Color in Machu Peach-U topped with jewels.

Lady Gaga

With her tousled bleach blonde waves and seductive smoky eye, Gaga went for a toned-down look for the evening. Her look was created by Marc Jacobs Beauty ambassador Sarah Tanno using Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer on the outer corners of her eyes; she smudged the liner so “it looked like she put it on yesterday.”

Next, Sarah used her new go-to Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Steel(etto) and buffed the black shade Catwalks on top of the liner to diffuse the shade. She then applied the neutral shade The Concrete to naturally shape the eye. To add more definition, Sarah layered with Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Blacquer.

Bebe Rexha

We're obsessed with Bebe Rexha's gritty half-up, half-down hair style created by Ursula Stephens using all drugstore products. She cleansed and conditioned Rexha's hair with Love Beauty and Planet Sulfate-Free Turmeric & Tonka Essence Shampoo and Conditioner for a fresh base. She generously sprayed a cast of Love Beauty and Planet Coconut Milk & White Jasmine Medium Hold & Volume Hair Spray for hold before sectioning off two-inch pieces of hair and flat-ironing them inward and upward like the direction of a banana peel.

Next, she raked a styling crème throughout her hair, then layered a generous coating of Dove Care Between Invisible Dry Shampoo ($4.99) on top to create grit and volume. She finished the look with more dry shampoo, paying extra attention to her bangs, before spraying TRESemmé TRES TWO Unscented Extra Hold Hairspray all over for hold throughout the night.

It was all about hair for the Best R&B Album winner. She rocked her signature voluminous, long curls, slightly teased and paired with a neutral lip provided by Dior Beauty Backstage Lip Palette, to complement the purple hues in her jumpsuit.

Katy Perry

Would you believe us if we told you Katy Perry's makeup look for the night was created using only drugstore products? Well, believe it. The star rocked all Covergirl products, including the upcoming Queenship Eye Shadow Palette in Revolution shades Exposed, Commotion, and Showdown. The unreleased shadow palette will be available April 8.

Janelle Monae

Monae never ceases to amaze us with her beauty. She gave new meaning to hats as a whole with her elaborate, gilded fascinator. Her look was bronzed and simple with a copper crease.

Jennifer Lopez

We were at a loss for words when Lopez stepped on the carpet. She kept her makeup look simple with a nude lip and simple black liner on the eyes. So as not to distract from her hat, her stylist pulled her hair into a sleek ponytail.

Alicia Keys

The host for the evening showed off her skin all night, as expected. Wearing (allegedly) no makeup — we're still in awe of how beautiful her skin is — Keys brushed out her brows for a rugged look and rocked a dramatic curly ponytail.

Ella Mai

Celebrity hairstylist Kahh Spence created a simple bob on Grammy winner Ella Mai using all OGX products. The makeup was kept simple, with Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation for a dewy glow.

Andra Day

Day had us dreaming of the '60s last night. Her teased beehive, curled bands, and dramatic cut crease were the key definition of retro at its finest. Her makeup was created using Stila Cosmetics products.

Kacey Musgraves

The Best Country Album winner kept it chic and simple last night with bone-straight hair and a rosy makeup look. With light pink hues on her cheeks, eyes, and lips, the country star looked like an angel.

Michelle Obama

We know we weren't the only ones who jumped for joy when Obama took the stage during the awards ceremony. Her bronzed-out makeup look and simple waves were the perfect combo of superstar and first lady.

Kylie Jenner

Jenner hit the red carpet in support of her boyfriend, Travis Scott, wearing her signature nude look. Of course, we're pretty sure it was created using all Kylie Cosmetics products. Her hair was effortlessly pulled back into a bun with a few loose strands for drama.

Miley Cyrus

We've been seeing a lot of Cyrus lately, and we're loving it. She took us back to the early days of her career with some effortless curls pulled to the side and a natural-glam makeup look.

Tracee Ellis Ross

We're always so excited to see exactly what Ross will do with her hair. This time, it was several rugged cornrows past her waist created by hairstylist Araxi Lindsey. She showed off her beautiful skin with only a little makeup.
