Meghan Markle Is Reportedly ‘Upset’ Her Kids Were Excluded From Royal Coronation Plans

The royal family is gearing up for the big coronation to ring in King Charles' reign as sovereign in only a few short weeks. Plans are still being worked out, and as details begin to trickle out — including the news that Prince Harry is attending but Meghan Markle isn't — there is bound to be some drama.

The latest drama centers on Meghan, Harry, and their kids.

Reportedly, there were some hurt feelings surrounding the coronation guest list.

According to a source who spoke with Mirror, there are several reasons the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took their time in confirming whether they would attend the festivities.

The first delay was because it was said Harry and Meghan didn't receive an invitation. But a few weeks later, it was confirmed that Harry, at least, received an invite. After that, it wasn't clear whether Meghan was included or their children.

The source said the couple was upset because their kids were not factored in.

The source claims that Meghan was "upset" that her children — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet — were not included in the coronation plans.

Other young kids will be involved in the coronation — including 9-year-old Prince George, who will serve as a page of honor at the crowning ceremony in a historic first for the family.

George will be the youngest future king to play an official role at a coronation.

And that's why insiders say Meghan was upset: She's "believed to be upset about their children's exclusion from the Coronation procession."

It sounds like it was always the plan, however, for only Prince Harry to go.

"The truth of the matter is the duchess was never likely to attend the coronation," a royal source told Mirror.

"The mood from California was that she felt increasingly put in an impossible position and there's a fair sense of relief that the situation is resolved after so much speculation and uncertainty," the source added.

"It is one thing to attend the late Queen's funeral out of respect for Her Majesty but another thing entirely to attend the start of a new reign."

Another source who spoke to the publication said Meghan was 'wrong' no matter what they chose to do.

"She is very much damned if she does and damned if she doesn't," the source said.

"As a mother, she's probably doing the right thing by her young children, which should be applauded."

Of course, the coronation is also on Prince Archie's birthday.

It's unclear why the coronation had to be held on Archie's birthday, May 6, when the young prince turns 4 years old. Some critics say they literally could have chosen any other day.

But royal experts say the plans the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have gone with are the best plan of action.

"Now that we know that he's coming, I'm very glad that he is coming to what is probably the most important day in his father's life — it would have been churlish not to do so," royal expert Jennie Bond has said.

"I think this was always the best compromise, particularly given Archie's fourth birthday, that he should come and Meghan should not."

It’s been reported that Harry plans to attend the crowing event for his father and then rush home to be with his wife and kids right afterward.
