Kevin Federline Blasts the Media for Reports That He Said Britney Spears Is on Meth

The feud between Britney Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline has become exceedingly public over the last several months, but now, it sounds like one news outlet has gone too far. Kevin is shutting down claims that he said Britney is "on meth," and Britney's voicing her opinion about the incident, too.

The Daily Mail published a story with a reported quote from Kevin.

In a story that was published over the weekend, the Daily Mail's Daphne Barak claimed that she got some inside info from Kevin while working to film a documentary with him and some members of the Spears family.

According to Daphne, Kevin told her, "I fear she’s on meth — I’ve been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up. It’s terrifying. She is the mother of my boys."

Now, Kevin is shutting down those rumors.

In fact, according to what he shared on his Instagram Stories, he never said that at all and explained that he only spoke about Britney and her family with "love and compassion."

"It saddens our family that Daphne Barak and Erbil Gunasti have decided to fabricate lies and publish the heartache our family has endured, along with the trauma of our minor children in the Daily Mail and The Sun," he wrote in the post. "We did allow Daphne & Bill into our home because we trusted them, but that trust was lost and we severed ties back in March for many reasons we choose not to go into here. It is very distressing that she continues to harass our family when we have repeatedly asked her to leave us alone."

Britney also seems hurt by the news.

Sharing a photo of a little girl being bullied by three other children, Britney wrote out a lengthy caption on an Instagram post that seemed to be inspired by the Daily Mail report, pointing out that the claims made in the story were "not true."

"It's sad because everyone sits back as if that's ok to make up lies to that extent … Why am I told I have to sit back and rise above ??? When they all go so low ??? Hopefully it is just the news being hateful and Kevin nor Preston said any of those things," Britney wrote.

As it turned out, she was (fortunately) right.

This incident comes at an interesting time.

Last month, Britney finally reunited with mom Lynne Spears after they were estranged for years, even inviting her mom over to her house.

"My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it’s been such a long time … with family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!" Britney wrote in an Instagram post after their chat. "And after being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT."

Meanwhile, Kevin's facing accusations that he's looking for more child support.

Earlier this month, Kevin's move to Hawaii with the sons he shares with Britney sparked debate about whether he was doing so to get more child support out of Britney, because the state continues payments until the age of 21, not 18 like in California.

Whether or not Kevin is actually scheming remains to be seen, but it's a relief to hear that Britney isn't dealing with addiction right now — at least, not that Kevin is willing to talk about.
