Single Mom of 2 Fired from Teaching Job Over OnlyFans Turns to GoFundMe

A single mom of two was fired from her teaching job after an anonymous blogger reported her OnlyFans account to the school where she worked. Sarah Juree, a former teacher and mother of two, is taking legal action against Starbase Science Academy and has hired a lawyer for her “unfair” termination, the Daily Star reported. Juree alleges that her former boss actually told her and another coworker that they should start an OnlyFans page and sell their undergarments on the site.

Many teachers in the US do not make livable wages on a teacher's salary alone, which necessitates the need for an additional source of income, as Juree pointed out. According to the National Education Association, 40% of education support professionals who work full-time in K to 12 education make less than $25,000 per year.

Her teaching job was not making ends meet for her family, so like many other teachers, she took on a second job.

Juree explained that like most teachers, she was not making enough to support her family solely from teaching, which led her to start earning extra money through OnlyFans. “Almost every teacher in America has a second side job or more. My former coworker worked as a bartender and she mentioned starting an OnlyFans page,” she said, per Daily Star.

The single mom of two claimed in an Instagram post that OnlyFans was “empowering” her. “OnlyFans has also created an empowering platform for women to create an unlimited financial income for themselves," she said, according to the New York Post. "Unlike being exploited on dating sites and being used for my images and targeted as an easy woman to take on a date and get free sex, I am now part of the energy exchange. I am now empowered."

She claims her boss ‘encouraged’ her to make an OnlyFans page.

Juree also alleges that her former employer encouraged her and another coworker to create OnlyFans pages. "My boss told us both to start a page and sell our panties on it days before I got fired,” she said, per Daily Star.

The school where she was employed released an official statement concerning her dismissal. Starbase offers STEM classes to fifth grade students and partners with the Department of Defense and local school districts, per the Post.

The statement read, “These photos pose a real and immediate risk of harm to the reputation or business dealings of Starbase Indiana, Inc. up to and including the loss of schools, donors, community partners and our contract to operate with the State National Guard,” according to the news outlet.

Teacher salaries typically are not high enough to live on.

The National Education Association's 2023 reports broke down teacher salaries and minimum living wages by state. For Indiana, the average starting salary for teachers is $40,959, and minimum living wage is $50,562, per the organization.

Like most teachers, Juree was reportedly not making a livable wage to provide for herself and her two children, leading her to use OnlyFans to supplement the gap between her teacher's salary and a living wage.

The single mom of two and now unemployed teacher is fighting her ‘unfair’ firing and fundraising for her family.

On her GoFundMe page she wrote, “Hi! I am Sarah Juree! A single mom to twins. I was unfairly fired from my teaching job for starting an OnlyFans account after my boss encouraged me to do so. I am raising money to help support myself and my twins as I navigate this difficult time.”

She hasn't received much support in her fundraising efforts thus far. The GoFundMe page has been live for more than six months and has received only four donations, totaling $145 of her $10,000 goal.

She also has encouraged her Instagram followers to support her on her OnlyFans account, claiming it is helping her to “reclaim” her life.

“Women can now become their own boss and be able to manage their own platform, pages and images. I appreciate the fans who are helping me to reclaim my life in every beautiful way possible!" she wrote, per the Post. "The support is amazing and I am now in the Top 7% of content producers!”

Juree has also retained a lawyer since the incident occurred, the Daily Star reported.
