Prince William Walks the Red Carpet Solo at the BAFTA Awards as Kate Continues To Recover

It was back to work for Prince William this weekend as he attended the 2024 BAFTA, or British Academy of Film and Television Arts, awards at Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday night. William looked a little tired as he walked the red carpet alone, but he was dressed to the nines in a navy blue velvet tuxedo jacket with black lapels and a crisp white shirt.

William has never been the most active working royal – Princess Anne almost always wins that award for the number of events on her calendar – but he's been working less than usual because of his wife Kate Middleton's recent planned abdominal surgery and hospitalization. Now that Kate is out of the hospital and continuing her recovery at the couple's country home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, royal watchers are keen to see if William will be fully returning to his royal duties this spring.

The BAFTA awards were hosted by actor David Tennant.

Although attending the BAFTA awards is a work duty for William, it was still an entertaining evening for the future king. William, who has served as president of BAFTA since 2010, was front and center for the award show, which was hosted by actor David Tennant, attended by both British and American movie stars, and featured musical performance by Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham.

Even though William didn't have Kate by his side, he seemed to be enjoying his seat next to Oscar and multiple BAFTA award winner Cate Blanchett. The two were spotted hugging and chatting during the show.

Prince William kept mum about Kate on the red carpet.

William and Kate both attended the BAFTA awards last year. The duo made headlines thanks to Kate's glam look and the fact that she was caught on camera giving William a little pat on the butt as they walked the red carpet.

There have been very few updates on Kate's medical condition or her current health since her surgery in January, and William kept quiet about both his wife's health and his fathers. King Charles was also recently hospitalized and is in treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

'Oppenheimer' won big with William in the audience.

The movie Oppenheimer, which is also nominated for 13 Academy Awards and is the front-runner to win several at next month's ceremony, was the big winner at the BAFTAs. The movie won multiple awards including Cillian Murphy for lead actor, Robert Downey Jr. for best supporting actor, and Christopher Nolan for best director.

Royal sources haven't yet released information on what William's next public event will be or when the public can expect to see Kate by his side again.
